>> it's a great question. i think he will have a really difficult time because i think you're going to have two different visions on how to use through that border obviously former president trump was successful in that and then you've got president three -- three and half years of field policies along the border but i think we know he's what -- is going to blame former president trump and congressional republican's for not passing legislation that gives him power that you already had, right, he pulled the american people for three years he did not notify the executive director already or the executive ability to pass certain actions and then he goes and takes that same action just a couple of weeks ago so regardless of what he says i think just point the results and in this case, results are obviously waiting to work former president from in securing the borders between the far too many stories know that can be brought up on that stage who challenged him on his border policies when we now have the mugshots of these two individuals who allegedly carried out this horrific crime telling jocelyn nungaray, the little girl who had her entire life ahead of her heartbreaking to watch her mother and her family there speaking next to the d da, talking about the details of this crime. so how do you defend that? i mean, there are policies -- i mean you decide president biden an act -- take executive action, he said to curb the flow over the border. has that made things any better? >> it doesn't. that executive action as well as any other action is taken over the three enough years have not been successful. haven't been successful because they don't have the will to actually implement -- this is not, you know, is a lot of smoke and mirrors. they save overdoing this but you just look at the results and the results are you continue to have an increased number of individuals coming across the border that they are apprehending illegally in -- and elsewhere. look, i think this is all about results. this is all about i can see one thing but as long as catch and release until the the policy of the biden administration you will continue to see this current month after month after month. >> sandra: let me quickly fall you up there on the strategy on the part of former president donald tr trump. because the last -- republican's are to -- the left says that republicans are to blame for not getting things done sooner under his presidency and they will say that they were handed off what was already an ongoing broken border system that bill say former president donald trump didn't fix. how does that debate play out on the stage? -- and democratic pollster doug shown there mack dog start with you first. if you were advising the current president on strategy with that conviction, how would you suggest biden take on with it? >> i would ignore it. put another -- i don't think there's any border in america who is unaware of what happened in new york. the polling is pretty clear that it has no effect on the electorate or a modest effect at best. voters are concerned about the southern border and you were saying about inflation, about where we stand in the world. that's what people want to hear from the incumbent president about, and that's what he should be talking about. $50 million on as calling trump a convicted felon, has from the number you reported and others i've seen suggest a huge windfall for him financially that i can only believe will only increase if biden attacks white -- in a way that i think he is ultimately not useful and potentially self-defeating. >> sandra: know well i ask because even former new york governor andrew coelho has this take on it. >> that case the attorney general's case in new york frankly should have never been brought. and if his name was not donald trump and if he wasn't running for president from the former ag in new york i'm telling you that case would have never been brought and that is what is offensive to people. and it should be because if there's anything or left is policing the justice -- believe in the justice system. >> sandra: so perhaps that accept doug's point convert to ignore it ignore if your joe biden. >> absolutely, sandra, it would be a wise council if biden would ignore it. and you know what? if biden doesn't is just a label. it's just a label and at best -- that's the only thing that donald trump has to defend is that label, then that's pretty good because president biden has got to defend the economy, he's got to defend crime, safety, border immigration. all litany of things that he has to defend and if the only thing that they have two slap president donald trump with is a label well, you know, have at it and look to see if that's the only thing that he's got to punch him on, look to see his fundraising quadruple with that with all kinds of people that will be outraged and especially his base making small donations. >> sandra: interesting. so you're saying avoid, avoid avoid. where should he focus, joe biden? >> i hope joe biden tries to explain how inflation is coming down, why it's going to matter to people in terms of prices at the grocery store and the pump. why the economy has been stabilized, why the southern border is not his fault but arguably the pulp as he believes of the republicans who wouldn't go for that bipartisan compromise. >> come on, doug. what happens with the buck stop with joe? >> i'm trying to answer your question, sandra, in terms of what he's going to try to do. he doesn't have an article -- an argument on the southern border. i know that, you know that, noel knows that.
