i am wolf blitzer in the situation room. erin burnett outfront starts right now. a major allegation, that there is a hamas, we take you inside the hospital to see where israel says it has found weapons and evidence that hostages are also being held there. breaking news, from lawyers , saying that he was not going to leave the white house even after he lost. the chinese government is now going after people on american soil, just for being critical of china. this investigation is coming just before president biden meets with the chinese president xi jinping. you will see it here first. let's go outfront. good evening, i am erin burnett. the defiant message from benjamin netanyahu, he insists that israel will not let up in its assault on gaza until hamas has been eliminated. as the fighting continues, the civilian casualties continue to climb. the largest hospital in israel is caught in the middle. that hospital complex is massive, as you can see, spanning more than 10 acres. thousands of people are seeking refuge. you can see the camps, courtyards, and parking lots. this is satellite image, you can see the spaces between the buildings are being used as refuse. and hamas has a command center underneath these building complexes. that is what forces in the idf are saying, but the head of the hospital denies it. here is what he told the israeli journalist who we have spoken to a number of times on this program. he asked him whether there were hamas tunnels underneath the hospital. >> translator: there are tunnels under the hospital. >> translator: this is untrue and inaccurate, i am the manager of the hospital. i call upon any institution in the world to come in and investigate this issue. >> any institution in the world. as of yet, there are no visuals of the command center, underneath the biggest hospital in gaza. but the idf today did take them to the children's hospital, north, and they found evidence of the hamas command center and a number of weapons in that basement, as well as hostages having been held there. you are looking at footage that was taken, going into what the idf says is where those weapons were being held. it is pretty incredible to see this footage. again, weret he is seeing now. idf are saying that hostages were also kept there at some point, and that they had evidence of that, so that is what you are looking at right now in these images underneath the children's hospital where nick was today, as well as other members of the press, taken in by the idf. what you see below ground, it is destruction and deeply disturbing. we do not know what is underground, we do know that what is above the ground are the hospital walls. outfront obtained this voicemail , from the head of surgery at the hospital and here is what he had to say. >> we do not have electricity, we do not have water. we do not have food. we are afraid, we will lose electricity, so, this is the issue now in gaza. we have a lot of killed people. we would like to bury the bodies. but sad to say, that is very dangerous. >> there were explosions in the background as he was speaking. and the doctor went on to say that they tried to dig a mass grave, but he said that their machinery was attacked. look, these situations, no matter the specifics of what is happening, it is very hard to get actual eyes on it, nevermind what is not being monitored by one side or the other. it is horror and a grim, sorrow- filled reality that president biden was asked to comment on when a reporter asked about hospitals in gaza. >> reporter: have you expressed any specific concerns on the hospitals in gaza? >> no, i have not. i am expressing my concerns of what is going on. it is my hope and expectation that there will be less intrusive action, relative to the hospital. the hospital must be protected. >> biden went on to say that negotiations are still underway, he says, for a pause in fighting to release the 239 hostages, they do include a 3- year-old american whose parents were both killed by hamas during the october 7th terror attack. jeremy diamond is live outside, along the israel-gaza border. jeremy, what are they saying about the connection to the hospital? that footage was right underneath the children's hospital. that is where they were, they were allowed in there by the idf and they were able to take those images. what is israel saying this is, underneath the hospital? >> well, i think it is first important to understand the context. for weeks, the israeli military has been laying the groundwork to go after some of these hospitals, claiming that hamas is operating from within and underground, as well as around the number of these hospital complexes. they have shown what they claim is evidence of rocket launchers and tunnels, in the vicinity of several hospitals, they have claimed that one of the largest command and control centers is underneath gaza's largest hospital, today, they are now showing what they say is weapons that they found in the basement of the children's hospital. they show, in a video, and it was shown by nic robertson, as well, weapons, including ak- 47s, rpg's, what they say are explosive, improvised devices, et cetera and they also say they found a room that they believe may possibly have been used told some of those israeli hostages. they found women's clothing, ropes, and curtains, perhaps designated for videos. they say that they also found, about 200 yards away, near a school, the entrance to a tunnel which they claim was used by hamas militants. of course, it is hard for us to independently verify a lot of this. but they did bring our nic robertson into the hospital to show him what they found. >> it is hard to know exactly what happened and what we are really saying. there is underground, aboveground, aboveground, no one can dispute the human pain and agony that is going on in those hospitals. the hospital system, truly at this point, it appears to be on the brink of collapse, doesn't it? >> we are watching a hospital system collapsing under the weight of war. we are seeing shortages of medical supplies, food, water, they have led to doctors trying to take care of patients using flashlights. and they have taken infants out of incubators because a nearby strike took out a generator. they wrapped those babies in foil to and blankets to try to keep them warm, putting them next to warm water, this is a dire situation. we are watching the same thing laying out at several other hospitals, including a hospital which says it is no longer effectively fully optional document operational. we spoke with the director general of the palestinian director of health in gaza, who said, doctors at the hospital do not want to evacuate. what are they going to do with hundreds of patients? some of them are in intensive care, some of them are amputees. how can they leave? >> jeremy, thank you very much, significant escalation, iranian -backed groups, conducting at least four more attacks against u.s. forces throughout the day. that brings the total attacks against u.s. forces 252. these latest attacks, coming after u.s. has hit targets connected to the iranian revolutionary guard. what are you learning, alex? >> it is not clear, whether this message of deterrence is working. right now it does not appear to be so, it is raising the question of whether the biden administration is doing enough to deter these attacks and whether the biden administration is doing enough to prevent this conflict from broadening outcome of raman document. this latest strike by u.s. forces in eastern syria was the third in as many weeks. and it hit a training facility, a safe house, that is linked to the iranian national guard, as well as other groups that are linked to iran. and there were some casualties. the pentagon has not been clear on exactly who was hurt order was killed. but this follows, erin, more than 50 different attacks against u.s. troops, as you mentioned, over the past few weeks since october 7th. directly after this latest strike by u.s. cats, there were four in quick succession, sunday night into monday morning, these iranian-backed groups are using a combination of rockets and runs to go after u.s. and coalition forces in syria. this has resulted, over the past few weeks, in more than 50 u.s. troops, with varying degrees of injuries. including some two dozen with traumatic brain injuries. we have spoken with national security adviser jake sullivan about the strikes, against iranian-backed groups, earlier today. let's take a listen. >> our goal, over time, is to ensure that our forces are protected and that we respond, if we get hit. that is what we have done and that is what we will continue to do. they should be measured over the course of time, and out over the course of 24 hours. >> reporter: again, erin, this is no question of whether iran is being deterred, and their groups, from striking against u.s. forces, but whether the u.s. message is getting through to groups like hezbollah. groups who could really expand this conflict in dangerous ways. that is a major fear of the biden administration, erin. >> thank you, certainly, by numbers, two dozen american troops with traumatic brain injuries as a result of what has already happened against u.s. troops. the analysis is being extensively used, he is at the center for strategic studies. i want to get to go strikes in a moment. but first, the command center. the u.s., this is not the idf, that is where the u.s. is getting information, but they are putting their name on it. they are saying that hamas has a command center underneath the al-shifa hospital. and you heard the director of the hospital denied that. what have you heard about the hamas connection to that hospital? >> reporter: my connection focused in discussions today that the u.s. does believe that there is at least a hamas command center and possibly storage of some materials underneath the hospital. it is not necessarily large amounts. but there is some hamas infrastructure under the hospital. that is what the israelis look like they are targeting. the suffering we are seeing in the hospital itself is significant and concerning. >> i think it is important, as you say, that there is a command center of sorts, but not necessarily large amounts of material right there. but you are pointing out the tragedy of the hospitals. president biden is saying that hospitals must be protected in gaza, that brings us to the children's hospital, where the idf says they found weapons and abasement, rpg's, that is what we are looking at now. bulletproof that's -- vests, they say they found them, they took reporters there to show them today. they also say that there was a room that they believe may have held hostages and even provided for hamas to make videos, hostage videos. again, we are looking at the footage that we have from today. what do you see in these images? what do you take away from what the idf says this is ? >> reporter: again, in this case, it does appear that hamas has used areas, including basements, for the storage of weapons as command facilities and possibly hostages, and this really goes along with a tactic that hamas has done, not just now, but over the last couple of years. they have used civilians as human shields, they have put weapons in ambulances. and they are almost begging the israelis to conduct these attacks in and around the civilian centers so that they can use it for propaganda purposes. so, this has been a deliberate, consistent, and significant practice by groups like hamas. >> we are hearing that there are two dozen american forces in the middle east, because of the conflict, that have suffered traumatic brain injuries, 50 injured, and two dozen with traumatic brain injuries. right? your life is altered. 52 attacks we know of so far against u.s. and coalition forces over the past few weeks. when it comes to the military perspective, i want to emphasize, for these people, this adds up to a change in their lives. this conflict, is it escalation or is it just chatter? >> reporter: i think the conflict in the region is moving up the escalation ladder. we have not seen the levels of violence that we saw in the 1980s, for example, where we sought -- saw hundreds of collar -- casualties. we are seeing both sides striking each other's targets. alex mentioned this a little bit. the amount of standup weapons that hezbollah has, and it iranian-linked groups have, it is significant, well over 100,000, they could be shot at israel itself and it could also strike u.s. targets in places like iraq and syria. if we keep creeping up this escalation ladder, there is a lot of violence that could happen. >> thank you very much, seth, i appreciate it. breaking news on the domestic front, one of trump's prosecutors saying that he was informed that trump was, quote, not going to leave the white house, despite losing the election. >> he said that the boss is not going to leave, under any circumstances. we are just going to stay in power. plus, the battleground, the new series with john king. the issues that will decide who wins the next presidential election. breaking news this hour, the house is about to move forward with impeaching honda mayorkasas. . we wilill be bacack, live. right. breaking news, abc news, obtaining video connected to the fulton county election intervention -- interference case. she recalls a late-2020 conversation with dansk of note, he ran his twitter account, he was telling her that [ crying ] would never leave the white house, despite losing the election and multiple legal challenges. here is what she has said. >> he said that we do not care, we are not going to leave and i said, what do you mean? he said the boss, meaning president trump, and everyone understood, the boss, that is what we all called him, he said the boss is not going to leave under any circumstances. we will just stay in power. and i said it does not quite work that way, you realize and he said, we don't care. >> that is pretty incredible, people so close to trump just bought into this. she admitted that she pushed false election claims. the lead investigator in the case said that the private discussion was absolutely meaningless. now, bryan goman, our legal analyst and jack o'donnell, former chief operating officer of the trump plaza hotel, this is something that said sidney powell was instrumental, i will play that in a moment. but first, after that, cooperating, and testifying, now, that is the clip that has been released. how significant is she? >> it looks like she could be very significance. and potentially -- >> in a special counsel? >> yes, if they can show that he lost and said he was holding onto power, that is came over, and she is telling him that is essentially over. we just lost a major supreme court case and he says, we are staying in power, we do not care, we are staying in power. >> abc also obtained sidney powell's interview. she says multiple traumatic white house lawyers, this whole point that we kept honing in on for so long, did people really know. multiple people told him that he lost and here is how she said that trump responded. here is the clip. >> what was president trump's reaction? >> it was like, they say that, then they walk out. this is what they deal with all the time. >> she throws her hands up in the air, it seems, mimicking the former president. they would walk out after telling him that they lost and he would say, this is what i deal with all the time. this, does it sound like the trump we know? >> he refuses to believe bad news, number one, and he lives in an alternate world. he believes that he is above the law on everything and it does not really matter to him, the significance of a peaceful transition of power. he does not believe in the law. he just ignores it. it is absolutely trump, and nothing that surprises me. >> ryan, obviously, they are putting out clips that make a very clear point. they are bad for trump. it comes on a date in the trial where the defense called don jr., called by the defense, to testify again, and they want to use a very specific powerpoint presentation about the trump war, they want to put things into evidence. dan alexander, we know him, we have him on a lot, he said the presentation, the powerpoint presentation, it is 63, according to the fcc and the tax documents, licensed across from the new york stock exchange. and so, does this look bad for team [ crying ] to put in a powerpoint that they were showing people, that was false weight >> they also pointed out some other inconsistencies, and all of them go to one particular thing, that is all the inflation of the trump assets and all of that. >> the higher levels of occupancy of the building as well, first, it is bad for them, the evidence is unreliable and they cannot be relied upon. it is worse, because the very presentation at the trial is what they are being prosecuted for, that is inflating his assets. it is not just clumsiness, you know sometimes higher, it's a bit lower. every time john jr. is testifying with a presentation that they thought about long advance, it is all skewed in favor of his father. >> john, this is something that you lived and breathed. you know, they were not honest about the actual location, but don jr. testified, the occupancy for 40 wall street was not higher than 90%, it turns out, 77%. but he testified it was higher than 90%. two ryan's point, this seems to be standard operating procedure. here is an excerpt from my documentary, when they talk about how many units they have sold in the business. >> we have all kinds of projects all over the world that are virtually sold out. from hawaii to toronto, to istanbul. >> bankruptcy papers filed years later told a very different story. >> years after it open, they still had three-quarters of the units just sitting empty. >> virtually sold out, jack, and the reality was nearly three-quarters of the units were empty. that was the reality, when they had to file for bankruptcy. you have lived and breathed this, is this who they are, at their core? >> erin, it is form over substance, always. it shows a complete lack of discipline within the organization. they are willing to have a flashy presentation and not even look at the numbers. they cannot even take the time to do that. it is disgusting. from a businessman's standpoint. you know, the problem with the culture, erin, even if they have a 90% occupancy rate, i promise you they would be saying they have a 98% occupancy rate, it is just how they function. they cannot help themselves. they are always going to be lying. >> tank you both very much. next, do you remember this? >> i would hope that we would give to women in this country the right to make this decision. >> why that message did not work 35 years ago but it is now suddenly resonated. john king, with our new series, the battlegrounds. china is now trying to silence people on american soil. it is sobering for us. >> they will kill me if i do not delelete my yoututube. tonight, abigail stan berger, running for virginia governor, one week after democrats won control of both houses of the state legislature. what drove many voters, protecting abortion rights. that puts her front and center. >> some politicians in richmond are focused on banning abortion, but they need to focus on recruiting and training teachers and stop extremists from shredding reproductive rights. >> we are going to take a closer look at the places and the issues that will decide this election. the battleground tonight is the suburbs, where this fight for abortion rights is playing out, john king, you know, abigail spanberger, right there, launching a bid for governor, wasting no time, making it clear what her issues are. she is on the other side of glenn youngkin of the issues, and she believes there is a clear reason for this. not only in virginia, but across t
