>> we would like to get them out of there and freed them certainly if we could rescue them i think that's pretty slim given the situation. why are the hostages there? the hostages -- mike they've never taken hostages on the substantive scale before they took them this time i think it shows all the fingerprints of the iranian regime over this operation. not only did the hamas fighters train at the ir gc training center where they practice their motorized glider operations they also help them how to sync through this operation. the iranians have been taking hostages for 43 years it is their mantra it has not been hamas. they've done it but not on a systematic basis so the hostages are there one to guarantee the preservation of the regime. not to be dismantled. and also certainly to slow down the israelis assault that is taking place because of that and they will trade some hostages likely they will insist on a cease fire. at the end of the day the last hostages they trade they tell the israelis you've got to get out or we are not going to let the hostages go so they have taken these hostages clearly as a leveleverage for their own ade knowing full well the israelis will come after them after the butchery and savagery they imposed again on a civilian population which was a departure from their past military operations which always focused on the idf. they were doing that because they wanted a very violent response this is how diabolical and is sinister this regime is they wanted this violent response they served at the gaza population to take casualties so they would get widespread international condemnation that we see taking place so israel geopolitically would be more isolated and we can politically internally not to speak of breaking down the normalizations with the arabs and the israelis. this is what this is all about strategically as well. it is not just a military operation taking place that's what the implications are as well. >> if i could get a quick answer on this when there tell me i have to go but i want to ask you, do you feel americans should be concerned the u.s. military would be entangled, dragged into conflict in that region again? [laughter] we already are, aren't we? we have been attacked. they are telling us we have been attacked a 48 times since october the 17th. during this administration from the time they took office until the attack on october the seventh we were attacked 83 times. i think we are already there, are we not?
