committed by hamas by having their military hidden under a hospital. that's a fact. >> it's showing that america is willing to stick by an ally in the face of growing international pressure. >> the rally calling for a cease-fire in gaza that turned tense outside of the headquarters of the democratic national committee. sgllt situation is deteriorating by the hour. >> he's not shying away from the points of disagreement in the crucial issues. >> face to face, they play nice after a year of tough talk. it's communications between two respective militaries. >> there's been a reset. >> a glowing messaging coming from chinese state media. curious to see how they are going to portray it in the days to come. >> trust but verify. clear that there's a the lot of work to do. good morning, everyone. we begin with that hugely consequential watched all over the world bilateral meeting between president biden and xi jinping coming at a time of extreme global turmoil. there are wars raging in ukraine and gaza. the most powerful rival taking steps to prevent a conflict with one another. at their summit, they agreed to restore crucial military communications that china had cut off last year. >> despite the progress made, biden told reporters he does still consider xi to be a dictator. he said he's takiing but verify approach. he made headlines regarding the war with hamas. he said he was, quote, mildly hopeful about a potential deal to release hostages being held by hamas. he also defended israel's controversial military operation inside of gaza's largest hospital, where the idf has accused hamas of running an underground command center. >> while back in d.c., protesters demanding a cease-fire clashed with police outside the dnc's headquarters. we're learning top lawmakers were inside the building and had to be evacuated. six officers were hurt in the chaos. mj lee starts us off with the summit. she was there at the press conference last night. this is the first time biden and xi have spoken in person since bali last year. walk us through the major take aways. >> the last time that president biden and president xi met on the sidelines of g-20, u.s. china relations had deteriorated so much so that heading into that meeting, u.s. officials had said they simply wanted to establish a floor in that relationship. this time around, washington and the white house lay ing out a i deliverables they hoped would come out of this summit. an historic summit between presidents joe biden and xi jinping marking a new chapter in u.s.-china relations. the leaders meeting in person for the first time in a year at a sprawling estate south of san francisco. the summit aimed at deescalating tensions between the two countries. >> it's paramount that you and i understand each other clearly leader to leader, with no misconceptions or miscommunication. >> translator: for two large countries like china and the united states, turning a back on each other is not realistic. conflicts and confrontation has unbearable consequences for both sides. >> reporter: biden and xi along with their delegations meeting for four hours behind closed doors. before walking around the grounds of the estate. >> it's been worrisome. that's how accidents happen, misunderstandings. >> reporter: as well as a commitment from beijing to crack down on fentanyl production. >> it's going to save lives. i appreciate president xi's commitment on this issue. >> reporter: but at a press conference after the summit, the president saying this about his chinese counterpart. mr. president, after today would you still refer to president xi as a dictator? this is a term that you use openly. >> he is. he's a dictator in the sense that he's a guy who runs a country that. >> reporter: the president also confronting numerous questions about the israel, hamas war. declining to elaborate on how the u.s. is certain hamas has a kmabd center under the building. >> can you detail what kind of evidence you have seen that hamas has a command center under the hospital? >> no, i won't tell you. >> on president biden saying that he still views president xi as a deck tater. china's foreign minister saying those comments were extremely erroneous and an irresponsible political maneuver quickly confirming that chinese officials view that label and description with a lot of sensitivity. >> mj lee, thank you. president biden weighing in on the military operation, as you were just hearing about at the site of the largest hospital in northern gaza. listen. >> here's a situation. you have a circumstance where by having their military hidden under a want who. that's a fact. that's what's happened. >> oren liebermann join us from tel aviv. the idf have been in there 24 hours in the hospital. they have promised concrete evidence that there is this command center. have they present ed that evidence? >> we have pressed idf officials on our air and off air repeatedly on whether they have evidence to show us that it is used as a command center and there's terror infrastructure under the hospital itself. we have not seen that evidence. after the idf went in, they released concrete evidence that hamas was using the hospital for its own purposes showing pictures of some technological assets. but the question of the credibility of the idf and israeli officials is at stake. not over the past several weeks where they have said the hospital was a base for hamas, but for years they have put this out there. they have had briefings and expect they will say more, but the key question is do they have evidence they can show us, because we have not seen it yet, that hamas was using the hospital itself and was underneath the hospital with what they have called a command and control center or a headquarters or something to that effect. >>. >> as we wait to hear more details, you have obtained new video about how the october 7th attacks actually unfold ed. what did you learn? >> reporter: many were wearing cameras. this was released after the attack as propaganda to show what they had done. but not all of it. we obtained video from one body camera who wanted to show the reality of what happened that day, which many have called israel's 9/11. we want to warn you the video you're about to see is extremely graphic. please keep that in mind as it shows nearly one continuous clip of 100 minutes of horror. >> reporter: an explosion before dawn on october 7th. the time is here and the attack is underway. god is grant, they chant. as they cross the breached fence. >> go right, they say. less than two minutes later, they cross the second security fence. they are heading towards a kibbutz the sun is up and a day that will reshape the region has begun. this video comes from the body cam of one of the terrorists who took part in the attack. it was obtained exclusively by cnn on the israel defense forces. we also see video before the attack. it is a look into a network of tunnels with what appear to be supplies stored in the darkness. writing on the walls in arabic says what's hidden is far worse. aboveground, the gunman fires his first shots. they stop on the way. more than a dozen militants gather to prepare for the next assault. one has several grenades on his back. minutes later, a group advances across an open field moving towards the village. the gunman charges the last bit and spots a an israeli soldier on the ground. others join in celebration. moments later, he's more composed as he turns the camera on himself. he says his name and that he's 24 years old. he's a father and says he killed two israeli soldiers and asks god for vicvictory. on motorbikes now, they keep advancing moving together alongmenty israeli roads or noorly empty. the man cheers as he sees bodies on the road. his is not the first wave. he rounds a corner. here we have seen this place before among the first videos to come out after the attack. this is dash cam video from a car on the same road moments earlier. the car approaches a group of militants who opened fire. the car coasts, its driver almost certainly dead by now. it's just after 7:40 in the morning. after a quick reload, the group approaches a military base near the kibbutz. for 65 minutes, they have had nearly free reign in israel. the gunman closes the distance with a weapon he took from a soldier opening fire. and fire comes back. this man's part of the attack comes to an end. the terror is just beginning. >> reporter: one of the things that's clear is how much reign this group had as they crossed the border fence. they went whenever they wanted to for so long. that would be part of what israel promises would be a thorough and in-depth investigation of the catastrophic failure of the security apparatus. you can see that fail jury in that video. it was very difficult to work through a lot of the video so i would like to thank the team that help ed me through that. my editor and our translate rs who worked through difficult video. >> very difficult, but also very important. o'rib lieber man, thank you. president biden and china's president trying to restore a fractured relationship between the two nations and their high-stakes summit. did president biden do enough to satisfy democratic lawmakers? was meaningful progress made yesterday? >> first of all, it's meaningful that they simply met. this matters a lot forthe leaders of our cotwo countries sit down and have a conversation, because that hasn't happened since nancy pelosi's controversial trip to taiwan a few years ago. and we need to have dialogue. there's no question that china and the united states are adversaries or competitors. there's a real risk that we could get into a war over a mistake. the fact that president bidens was able to sit down with president xi and agree to have military to military communications going forward so that an accident in the pacific doesn't erupt into a wider war. that's significant. that's a big achievement for us in terms of our security. >> yo had been vocal saying i hope they talk about artificial intelligence and nuclear weapons, and they did. but you also feel given the communist's party use of ai, it's hard to imagine they would care much about collateral damage and war waged by soulless robots. what would success look like on that front? >> this is a problem. the chinese communist party don't care about the laws of war. they don't care about civilian casualties. so if we get into a war with artificial intelligence enabled weapons on both sides, they could have a lot less restrictions on their weapons they could be really dead ly. so it's one example of why it's so important as a world community that we come together and have some convention ps. essentially like a new geneva convention on the use of ai and warfare. there's no place where it's more important than with nuclear weapons, because we have heard the stories. it's not crazy. ai could take control and literally start a nuclear war at some point in the future. so i would have loved to see an agreement come out of this meeting, but the fact they are talking about it is a huge step in the right direction. >> that's something we haven't seen is a weapons agreement between the u.s. and china. it would be a big step forward. opin china, apple, last night w saw xi jinping attend this dinner meeting with a bunch of ceos, tim cook was there. your committee sent a letter to cook yesterday asking for an explanation as to why apple and jon stewart parted ways. the question was is this over china? do you know? >> we don't know, but there are certainly rumors out there. a lot of american corporations find themselves in this pickle where they understand that china is not just a competitor. they are clearly an adversary to the united states. and at the same time, they have a huge market in china. so apple is trying hard to sell products to china. we have seen chinese sales fall in recent months. that's great concern to them, to their shareholders. we have real national security concerns about some of the business relationships that go on in china and the influence that the chinese government can have over american corporations. that's really the heart of the the matter. is china dictating what apple does and doesn't do in china. that's of the real concern to us. we hope to find out. >> let us know what you hear from apple going forward on that. i want to turn to the war between israel and hamas, given your four tours that you served in iraq. we had had general petraeus with us yesterday. everyone remembers his important question early on in the invasion into iraq. tell me how this ends. you have recounted going back into an iraqi city that had been conquered, trying to retake it. you experienced the how does this end personally. do you see israel heeding that lesson that america is asking it to? >> i know they are starting to think about it, but they need to think about it a lot harder. they need to make sure their military actions on the ground are all contributing to a peaceful end to this conflict. in many ways, this is israel going back into gaza after they pulled out several years ago. if they go into gaza today and just leave it a smoldering mess, killing so many civilians that they recruit more terrorists to the cause than they actually take out, then we're going to be right back in the same situation. they are going to have the same national security problems. so they have to actually show the palestinians that there's a brighter and different future than what they have had in the past. >> you just within the last week called benjamin netanyahu a, quote, total disaster. you said that israel would not be in this situation if he wasn't in power. i wonder if you now agree with his opposition leader who said he should resign. should he? >> absolutely. absolutely. he should have resigned on october 7th. prime minister benjamin netanyahu has divided the armed services, he's divided the country. he received intelligence reports not only about a potential hamas attack, but about the fact that his own intelligence and security services were weakened by his divisive leadership. he should absolutely step down. >> i will say our christiane amanpour pressed one of his senior advisers on those reports of intelligence that he reportedly received ahead of this and still pressing for direct answers on responses on that. congressman, come back soon. thank you. >> great to see you. prosecutors in fulton county, georgia, are urging a judge to revoke the bail of one of the co-defendants in the election subversion case. they say he's intimidating witnesses. we'll bring you the details, ahead. also senator joe manchin sits down with katitlan collins. what he now says about possibly leaving the democratic party. prosecutors in georgia are urging a judge to put a defendant in the election interference case back in jail. they say harrison floyd's bond should be revoked. prosecutors tell the court, quote, the defendant's actions demonstrate he poses a significant threat of intimidating witnesses and obstructing the administration of justice in the future making him ineligible for bond. they declined cnn's request for comment he pleaded guilty to three charges. joining us now is a former federal prosecutor and current district attorney for westchester county in new york. and former district attorney in fulton county, georgia. i want to start with you. when you talk about what is being laid out here, there are more than a dozen public statements that violate the terms of the bond agreement. pull up some sweets, including one citing jenna ellis that they have also cited here. the judge in this case, what will they be weighing as they consider the request? >> the judge will be weighing, fist of all, the fact that the bond terms did specifically say that he was not to contact witnesses directly or indirect ly. so he doesn't have the excuse that this was a public tweet, this was a public statement. the bond term specifically covered that, which i think is important and should be important, will be important to the judge. the second thing the judge will be weigh ing is the content. as you said, there are several different examples but in at least one of them, he calls jenna ellis essentially a liar. he says you're a mess and questions her credibility. these are some of the saim things that have come up in other cases where prosecutors have pointed to statements by donald trump undermining the credibility of certain witnesses. so it's about potential witness intimidation and also undermining their credibility in the public sphere, which can make it problematic to get fair jurors. >> that's a good point. i want to zero in on what the judge is looking at here. that is what is viewed by them as intimidation. this is someone who volunteered their time to be an election worker, who was attacked by the likes of rudy giuliani, who had to walk that back recently by donald trump. you see there. and prosecutors say the comments about her have made her the subject of renewed threats and violence from parties. just speak to that. how extraordinary it is to have to endure something like that when you're a volunteer trying to help in an election. >> it's unconscionable. it's one reason that this prosecution is so important to stand up not just for them, but for the citizens of georgia. the people that work our polls every election season are pate the yos it's the height of unpatriotic behavior that mr. floyd is accused of in this very indictment and that he continues to participate in. and it shouldn't come as a shock to me. i have seen this a number of times in my career as a prosecutor, how often folks that have been indicted for felonies after that indictment continue the kind of conduct that got them under indictment in the first place. i think mr. floyd, if you hadn't realize it already, it about to realize the consequences of that. >> can you explain the leaked videos including one with jenna ellis has created some turmoil. the judge is going to take some action related to it. with know who says that they leaked some of the video saying they are doing it because they believed it should be seen publicly. what's actually happening here? most people just watch the video and say that's interesting. that's stuff i didn't know or that's helpful for understanding things. why would you not want these public? >> i think it kind of depends who the you is in that sentence. i will say this. first of all, while there wasn't a protective order in place, so there was no order specifically saying that the defense could not disseminate these videos, i wish there had been, but even putting that aside, it's absol absolutely not something a lawyer should be doing. it's a possible violation of ethical rules. to leak a video to disseminate it for the purpose of you want the public to see this, trials are not in public. trials are in courtrooms where there's rule of evidence. some of this testimony whiles fascinating and substantively revealing of new facts that are potential lu very good, i think, for the prosecution, not all of it would come in at trial based on the rules of evidence. if you'
