from washington tonight. they keep trying to stop trump and keep failing. late tonight minnesota supreme court dismissed a lawsuit that would have kept the former president off the ballot totally under the 14th amendment. it will not work. what is next in their bag of dirty tricks to try to stop this guy? well, we'll discuss it later. first, what happened and what's next? focus of tonight's angle. republicans were disappointed last night, big weed and big abortion won in ohio. gop lost dream of taking control of the state house and democrat in kentucky, andy beshear, he won. democrats are leaping to the conclusion that biden emerges as superman. >> it was a significant victory for democrats and couldn't come at a better time as there is tremendous anxiety about president biden bid for reelection. >> coalitions are strong. >> boom, once again joe biden is underestimated. >> laura: wait, listening to that crowd, you would think biden was out there week after week campaigning, ohio, kentucky. forget superman, he's like kryptonite. >> i convinced the president when i was vice president to do. ♪ ♪ >> laura: that's the amtrak behind him. "washington post" poll, biden approval in virginia is lame 43%. meanwhile, same survey, republican glenn youngkin approval 54%. there was positive trend for gop in virginia. republicans won 13 districts president biden won in 2020 and republicans won seven districts where democratic candidate won in 2022 and in a state that biden carried by 10 points three years ago, republicans came within a few thousand votes of winning majority in both chambers out of roughly 2.3 million votes cast. do they wish they did better? of course. total disaster? far from it. in kentucky, face this, no one was going to beach andy beshear, one point, polling showed daniel cameron down double digits. he came within five percentage points. all other major statewide offices in kentucky went big for republicans. then mississippi, democrats got their hopes up that elvis presley's cousin would unseat incumbent tate reeves. reeves won. republicans managed to snag a few victories in new york. republican from maine flipped the executive seat and we continue to chip away at the democratic party there. keep it up. everyone is asking today when i run into them. what lesson do we take from this? what do we do next? first, micro-targeting voters matter. suburbanites turned out for the abortion issue. every democrat ad over the last 90 day was about abortion, nothing about how great the economy is under biden or democrats, so democrat consultants stuck to that issue, because it worked in the midterm and abortion front and center, what worked for youngkin in 2021 got drown out. this time democrats were ready and by election day, the issue was no longer about protecting kids, it was about keeping nazis off the school board again. time to recognize suburbs are increasingly left leaning on cultural issues, plus democrats are able to outraise, outspend and frame issues better than republicans. you are saying, now what? these are dynamics at play, how can conservatives still win? of course they can win. last night's results confirm what we've been saying all along, the gop must continue to harvest voters from where they are for the gop, which is among working class multi ethnic voters. we face coalition of upper class voters, big business and culture warriors, that is not changing any time soon. certainly in the '80s, it was not this way, businesses were -- left was relegated to college campuses in places like san francisco and greenwich village and rich americans were more politically pragmatic back then. that's changed. views of working class voters have not changed. it is key to follow the strategy trump began with, economic growth, lower gas prices, peace through strength. elect democrat and get migrant population and more war, period. that message wins and will prove overly confident democrats wrong. since we've had joe biden top of the ticket, democrats won presidency, they did fantastically well in 2022. now in 2023, far exceeding expectations, basically everything they could win, they won. >> why are democrats so worried? >> exactly, democrats are doing great under joe biden, all they want to do is panic. >> panic? are americans doing great? panic is what many american families are feeling now because of joe biden. and conservatives need to galvanize people and voters are not just white men living outside old manufacturing hubs in akron, ohio and burlington, vermont, they came here for a better life for their children, not what they are experiencing today. when we're back in control, you will be able to keep your gas-powered car and fill with gas you can afford whchl we win, we will enforce our border before we spend billions trying to enforce other borders, we will give it back to you, hard-working americans, we want a fair shot. next year election should be about common sense, we have it, democrats have none. so they're celebrating ohio ballot initiative, those issues did not stop j.d. vance from winning last year, did they? another reason to believe democrats are unjustifiably confident in biden's 2024 prospect, look no further than comments made by the matriarch herself, hillary clinton. >> barack obama was behind at this point in re-election. my husband was behind at this point in his re-election. joe biden is not only proved he's done a good job, look at the alternative and look at what we would face as a country. i think the election results yesterday should be good news for president biden. >> laura: look what we face, peace, prosperity and closed border. trying to convince us biden's political skills are on par with obama's and clinton's. yeah. beyond republicans being outmaneuvered on social issues, they were outspent. is there a plan to turn that around in 2024? does not seem like it. the media was egregiously pro-abortion and pro-marijuana in coverage. we must accept the facts and pivot and build on the success that trump, desantis, greg abbott and other great governors have found. their policies appeal to republicans and independents and open-minded democrats, hispanics and more african american men. is next year uphill battle? not trying to shy away from that, it is. but republicans can win. they control half the country and their policies make life better for working people. why else would 76% of people on the monday poll just released by "new york times" say we're going in the wrong direction. that is angle. joining me now is fox news contributor and phil kirpin, committee to unleash prosperity. ben, we will talk later about where the gop goes from here, but what is your take on what happened last night starting in virginia? >> i have to say as a virginiian for three decades of my life, people need to recognize it is a blue state and not the first time republican candidate, hard-core social conservatives and washington insider moderates, cuccinelli and gillespie both lost in a liberal state. state joe biden won by 10 points, glenn youngkin came close to achieving republican end after redistricting that affected a number of races. situations you had close elections, they added 17,000 votes to one critical senate seat from the democratic side. it is hard to go up against that, it is harder when somebody like ronna mcdaniel at rnc does not offer support in virginia and that is what i would point the finger at if i was a republican in virginia saying look how close we got. we got a slim margin away from achieving something that could have made this governorship effective and you didn't give money toward it. refused the request. >> laura: do they have the money? >> it's a fair question. the fact she refused request that came from the virginia republican for last-minute help in october, that could have been the margin there. few million here or there could have made the difference. >> laura: i don't want to pin the blame on one person, there are a lot of political consultants that got rich off the bases. they always get hired again. i got to go in that business, i give advice. upward. given financial disparity, republican don't have money democrats have, how to connect that working-class message that works in miami-dade county, it works. >> interesting the biggest win in virginia, republican that had almost no money, loudoun county. spent -- >> laura: what race? >> the commonwealth attorney. >> laura: that was loudoun county? >> loudoun county, she lost because she criminalized parents and refused to prosecute the criminals in school and that did have enough legs to extend another election cycle. >> laura: bob anderson won that seat, arlington, virginia liberal. fairfax is liberal, not moderate, it was in the '80s, northern virginia, it was working class, moderate republican. that has totally changed and ben, immigration has changed a lot in virginia, has it not? open borders will make it worse. it has, this is failure of americans to recognize you have a new coalition now and you are not going back to the old one. you may have fond memories of upper class wine moms in the suburbs coming out and voting for you in midterm elections. guess who is voting now? the guy building the deck behind her house. you have to appeal to him and bring him to the polls. >> laura: phil, are republicans investing in spanish radio? there is an enormous amount of ispanic radio and television that seem to me to be fertile ground for common-sense messaging on policy. are you hearing ads in spanish? >> very little, huge missed opportunity. ben is right, republicans are party of people who work for a living, the democrats are party of people who are rich and people on government assistance and dependency. laura, i wish they would carry the message like you did in your monologue, that is winning message. >> laura: when i am president, gas will be $2.30 a gallon again. >> virginia is a tough state. we did all right, map was tough. we have a president who is a failure, we should be able to win an environment like this, it is almost political malpractice we didn't win. >> political malpractice we let democrats run away with joe biden. >> laura: how did trump do it? hillary, you are the radical, you want to rip babies out of the womb. >> people are scared to talk about it. >> let democrats define you on the issue, you can't avoid it, state, local, you can't dodge it, come up with an answer and deliver it. >> genius of what trump did, hillary, you want to rip babies out. most voters say they are both crazy, i will vote on economy or something else. >> laura: i think they are the radicals. when do babies have rights? never. >> crazy idea, start with having pro-life movement in the country and see if something benefitss from that. >> laura: and dobbs, people say was it worth it to have roe v. wade overturned? absolutely, that is dumbest question i heard all day. great to see you. up next, frightening report about how bad actors overseas are getting ready to interfere in the 2024 election. senator eric schmitt is here. first, where is pete buttigieg? >> by the way, can i just say something about pete buttigieg on the previous segment? >> laura: yes. >> he is in ukraine -- another reason why we should separate this funding. vote on these things individually, the supplemental that has ukraine funding we have to separate. they is in ukraine. he has never been to the commerce committee. i'm on the commerce any oversight of the department of transportation. never once been in front of this committee this year. is he in ukraine. >> laura: when i worked at the d.o.t., we were always up there, i mean the secretary was always up there testifying. >> refuses to answer questions and more interested in woke policy. >> laura: maybe you should convene the committee in kyiv and invite zelenskyy and get pete to actually show up. >> but, to your question. i mean, look, this is a serious concern. i think we should be focused on -- there ought to be consequences, by the way, if state actors are engaged in this kind of activity. i would also say the bit of a warning here that in the 2020 election, our own government used sort of a -- the russian hack and leak pre-bunking of the hunter biden laptop story to affect the election. and we ought to be careful about our own government using this sort of misinformation as a giz. >> laura: piggy bank misinformation concern tagging it to those three countries when it actually could be just regular americans having a conversation. you are worried that's. >> i don't want to see our government engaged in censorship like we have seen in the biden administration and we saw leading up to the 2020 election. no doubt in the missouri vs. biden lawsuit we have shown this the fbi was engaged in this. >> laura: china wants biden. they are brokering the big surrender from the united states right now. they say it's a deal. it's a u.s. surrender to china on all these trade issues. they are going to drop these tariffs. that's trillions of dollars over a decade. that's probably a couple trillion dollars for china alone. for trillions of dollars, they will do pretty much anything, will they not? >> yeah. and this administration is projected nothing but weakness on the world stage and china sees that. and that's another reason, again, our focus, instead of worrying about the sanctity of other country's borders and not our own we need to be laser-focused on china. we need to retaliate when there is cyber warfare hacked into the emails china has. we need to retaliate. again, this administration doesn't really want to play hard ball. >> laura: sucking up to china left and right. we had a parade of, you know, ignoramuses go to beijing biden cabinet one after the other. this is like the old dating game. i was expecting the big flower decal. it was ridiculous. >> janet yellen bowing, being our top high ranking officials being snubbed. this is really a sign of disrespect. >> laura: it's american humiliation and total conciliation. senator, a few weeks ago, the u.s. attorney for the central district of california raised concerns about this happening in local and state elections in his state. he told the judiciary committee that we're the gateway to asia and we have china trying to influence our elections, trying to target some of our individuals. and this was said by the way. he was talking about pro-china. i mean, sorry, anti-china politicians. and this was -- this testimony was given while gavin newsom was, where?
