it's april 5th. and this is "fox & friends." parents are outraged after school staff members allegedly taped a disabled student to a chair. the family is going to join us this hour. >> brian: plus we are three days away from a total solar eclipse. hug your loved ones. we will talk to an eclipse chaser. they're busy every 25 years. >> steve: who knew? >> brian: we will tell you the best areas to see it from. >> lawrence: dwayne "the rock" johnson tells us in exclusive interview how he really feels four years after endorsing president joe biden. watch. >> america right now that answer, is no. am i going to do that again this year that answer is no. >> steve: more from will's interview with him as the second hour of "fox & friends" starts right now. and, remember, mornings are always better with friends. >> ainsley: president biden heads to baltimore today to speak with state and local officials after last week's deadly bridge collapse. >> brian: mark meredith joins us from the details on the short trip and some other initiatives the administration is working on, hey, mark. >> brian, good morning to you. there is a lot of news to get to this morning where president biden will be getting aerial tour of the damage left behind from baltimore bridge clasp. of course, this was a deadly accident there are growing concerns about the economic impact it's having all across the mid-atlantic. we know that the president will be in baltimore for a few hours to not only see what the damage was but also meet with those impacted. the federal government, he says, should cover the entire cost to replace the francis scott key bridge but we don't know how much money that is going to cost or how much additional economic aid made be needed to assist businesses struggling with this disruption. late thursday, the president was also all smiles as he marked greek independence day here at the white house. >> i had a very close relationship with a greek american community for real. i am joe biden on police. >> while the president was all smiles with the greek independence day. he is going to be on the road next week in wisconsin. the "wall street journal" reports while he is there fest attempt struck down by the supreme court. the divorce hope to use the rules to cancel waves of student debt in the runup of the november election. >> the exact timing will depend on how quickly they can finalize regulations. vice president kamala harris was on the campaign trail yesterday. she was in the tar heel state of north carolina telling a crowd they should be thankful for recent efforts to address climate change. >> but, think about it, soon, thoirt thousand more families will have the funds they need to replace drafty windows and install better insulation, to keep their homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer. and here in north carolina, to help you lower that monthly duke energy bill. [ applause ] you're welcome. >> the vice president talking about the efforts to address climate change. but one of the big questions still of this year are is going to be where gas price also go 3.52 an average a gallon. talk about summer driving season. we have seen prices go up the last several months. big question what will we see this summer? two years ago in the summer of '22 that we saw $5 a gallon gas. >> steve: we were just talking about that. >> brian: the vice president said the same thing the president said, when asked, are you trailing in the polls, she said no. they just want us to forget about the numbers? >> well, it's so interesting because obviously when do you hear the president and vice president get those questions about the polls show you trailing former president trump what does that mean you? are right they say we have different polling. they may have internal polling which shows something different as opposed to what you get from "u.s.a. today" or fox or nbc any of the other places that do polling. when you do talk about these polls, you have to say is one is outlier or seeing a general trend? we talked a lot this week, brian about the "wall street journal" showed the seven swing states and biden losing to trump in six of seven within the margin of error. you are right. they are going to keep facing these headlines. what do the polls say? the big x-factor the economy, still. what i just talked about with gas prices and student loan forgiveness what all means will certainly have a major impact on those polls as well. >> brian: get a good pennsylvania poll. >> steve: the supreme court, mark, already said the biden administration couldn't do it. i don't get what they are doing. >> brian: student loans. >> this is a good point. i think we are going to hear more about this on monday. some lines out to the white house to see what it is. the journal says in their report this morning these will be broad outlines of what the white house hopes to do and something they will still have to go through regulatory process. the journal is alooting instead of just forgiving everybody that has $10,000 worth of student loans we will find that maybe you are a certain income cap. maybe you have not been paying for the past 20 years. there may be more conditions as opposed to just kind of a broad stroke of student loan forgiveness. >> brian: and they're not supposed to be able to do it and they keep doing that. >> lawrence: how can it be during election year. >> brian: it's a bribe. >> lawrence: courts and decide they are going to do in t. any way. >> steve: about time to buy some boats. >> brian: how about car loans? >> ainsley: this speaking of the election, this is what a lot of you are worried about. how far a dollar will take you. the 99-cent stores they are closing 371 stores in arizona, california, nevada and texas they will can't afford to encould up with all these stores. the reason covid. the rising levels of shrinking, shoplifting, employee fraud, administrative errors and inflation. >> steve: here's the thing. the "wall street journal," our sister publication has great item yesterday where they showed in 2019 if you bought $100 worth of stuff you would get four bags, you are would get everything on this table. in some cases over the last five years now, some food has gone up 50%. so, we're going to show you graphically. >> ainsley: this is a lot. i can't even believe this is what $100 would buy you. nowadays it would give you half of this. >> steve: this is what can you buy in 2019. let us show you how much stuff have you got to take out. in other words, today, you have to take out about $37 worth of stuff. so we want to take out the carrots. >> brian: bananas. >> ainsley: oat meal. oat milk. brian has bananas. >> brian: frozen meal. >> ainsley: that's the chicken. >> steve: shear a can of soda. >> ainsley: lasagna over there. >> steve: chocolate bar. >> brian: did you take the crackers out? >> ainsley: gallon of water take that out. >> ainsley: brian you're not helping your table only has two things. brian, take the crackers. so now this is whether a your is $100 will buy you. >> >> steve: this is $100 in 2024. and can you pan over here to the little table? this is all the stuff you bought in 2019 for 100 bucks but you can't get it anymore. sorry, no carrots. no hershey bar? >> brian: think about alice shopping for six kids on the brady bunch comes back with less bags and same amount of money. >> lawrence: half of the kids can't eat, brian. >> brian: probably the girls. >> steve: $37 worth of stuff from 2019 you can't buy today. >> lawrence: serious note? my family grew up on the 99-cent store. we didn't have a lot. my mom would go to the 99-cent store and at that time it's like 1.07 with tax per item and she would say hey, she had her groceries and we were allowed to get two things. i can't imagine having to pay 4 bucks now for some of the stuff that was once 99. that's the whole point of the 9 correct stores. everything is 99 cents. >> steve: my family did the same thing. okay you get tchotchkes and steven stuff a lot of people go to buy their groceries at the collar stories. >> ainsley: we went to the commissary dad served in the army prices were cheaper there i wonder if they have gone up there as well. >> steve: they don't have tax. >> brian: we feel your pain whether it comes to inflation and shopping this weekend and what they keep telling you about inflation is they say it was at 9%. only 3%. it stays at the 9 and then you add the 3. it doesn't go down to 3. it's all above. so you need it to go down to 2%. never get that money back when it went up to 9 it compounds. on a different note. probably most famous people in the world who did it the blue collar way. >> steve: skip bedell? >> brian: dwayne "the rock" johnson came up as football player had aspirations to go to the nhl. went to the cfl and got cut. in wrestling making $25 and $75 a night. then he became the most successful box office star in the movies. now is he going back to wrestling. i'm just wondering at any point did will cain talk to him. >> lawrence: right. >> ainsley: i'm glad you asked. here it is. >> will: as you mentioned, you are very influential to the point of this. we talked about it. you running for president, people talk about it, you've talked about it. >> yes. >> will: are you going to ever seriously run for president? answer that question, consider it seriously and make that that mountain top run for president? >> as of now, no. that's not my intention, will. i'm not a politician. i'm not into politics. i care deeply about our country. i'm a patriot and i believe you are, too, as well. and right now my desire and my priorities are my babies and school drop-offs and pick-ups and things like that. that's important to me. i also feel like in the spirit of bringing people together and bringing our country together. i don't know if that's the right move at this point. i don't know. so, truth is. >> will: as of now you say. >> as of now. >> steve: as of now a moment that you decide to get involved in politics and donald trump found this out the hard way. all the celebrities at him. all at his parties. even the clintons were at his wedding. everyone loves you when you are cooking the thing that makes you great. the moment that you entire into politics, is suddenly when the people that once said they loved you don't like you so much. >> brian: can you imagine if he hopped on the no labels ticket. maybe is he not ready now. his kids are too young he should talk to schwarzenegger. he was just as high when he made that move in a very polarized california and then the kennedys more democrat and alienated the republicans came out and moderate. you have to make tough decisions when you are a politician. schwarzenegger said he would have run for president even though he left unpopular. >> ainsley: only 51 years old. he has time. he is the most followed american man globally on social media. i follow him. it's really cute. he has tea parties with his kids. >> steve: and how many times have you heard the expression you vote for people you would like to have a beer with. everybody would like to have a beer with this guy. he is universally beloved by at love people. i think you are right, if he were to ever say okay, i'm going to run as a republican or a democrat, then suddenly a lot of people don't like him anymore. that actually got started not-i famously we saw that with donald trump as you just detailed, brian. but, remember when ronald reagan, the former governor of the great state of california, he decided, you know what? i'm going to go for it, after he did all that public speaking and he ran away with it. and for the most part, he kept all of his celebrity friends. >> ainsley: the rock is going to be the main event in wrestle mania. 40's first night in saturday on philly. >> steve: tomorrow night. >> ainsley: yesterday tomorrow night. he is the third generation. his grandfather. his father was the first black champion in wwe history. left of center in the hall of fame. and is he about to induct his grandmother in the hall of fame. >> brian: you got to figure as good a shape as is he in 53. >> ainsley: 51. >> brian: is he going to get thrown all around the ring how the hell do you do that. >> ainsley: most intense training in a long time he told will. >> brian: i just have to lock up with him and make sure. i would love to do that and just see if he could take a beating. >> lawrence: will you be making a camo appearance at the match? >> brian: unfortunately it doesn't work with my schedule. if it was at the garden. >> steve: do you know what? i have got an idea that he is probably watching this right now. so if you would like the rock to call him, give him your phone number right now. >> brian: what i'm. >> steve: 1-# hundred. >> brian: i'm going to get body tattoos like you have so when i take my shirt off you will be a little intimidated. right now i'm just picking out my ink. >> ainsley: we have seen you wrestle before you were taken down. [laughter] >> brian: i'm going to train with tyrus to take on the rock. >> ainsley: you were like a blanket. he threw you on his shoulder. [laughter] >> steve: rag doll. >> brian: train with tyrus to take on the rock maybe that will be a better idea. >> steve: she didn't even say a doll she said a blanket. >> ainsley: flipped him over his shoulder. >> lawrence: i agree with ainsley. ainsley: rock, if you are coming to new york city please come in here and wrestle brian. >> brian: remember, steve, i wrestled the undertaker, too. remember the undertaker he choked me. >> steve: i do remember you jumping on the back of numerous guests. >> brian: that's true. >> steve: and i know donnie osmond and i know some other people. there were always a lot of tumbling, a lot of rolling around on the studio floor. and you are fine now. >> brian: b.j. penn and done any oz monday two toughest opponents. >> ainsley: have you ever been injured on the show? >> brian: i don't think so. i'm a rock. >> ainsley: one rock to another. >> brian: exactly. get more of the rock interview with will cain. that's going to come up a little bit later. i'm sure he is going to have it on his podcast, too. >> steve: in about an hour. coming up on 7:15 in the east. speaking of the east, carley has got news from georgia. >> carley: i certainly do. good morning to you. new emails revealing athens georgia marry kelly gertz defended sanctuary city policies days after laken riley was murdered. in emails obtained by congressman mike collins, mayor gearst tells the clock county sheriff's office quote i support the detainer policy that is, one, both humane and following the well-documented propensity of immigrants in the u.s. to less criminally inclined than the native born population. the news follows georgia state lawmakers passing a bill to require law enforcement to cooperate with ice. exclusive new photos shows sean "diddy" combs riding his bike and living it up in miami. these days taken after homeland security led two raids sex trafficking investigation. a music producer and friend of the rap mogul says comes was in his mime home during the raids. defended the rapper's parties highlighting how hundreds of stars would attend them. taking a look at the before and after of los angeles' infamous trash house. crews have removed more than seven tons of garbage in the last two days. l.a.'s mayor saying at least one ton of that trash was flammable and hazardous. the sister of the man who lived there revealed the family bought him the house, which is located in a wealthy neighborhood. now they want to take it over so they can fix it up. madonna asking a court to dismiss the lawsuit filed against her by two fans. for starting her new york concert late. her lawyer stating in a filing no reasonable concert goer and certainly no madonna fan would expect headline act major arena concert to take the stage at the ticketed event time. the plaintiff in the class action lawsuit claimed the material girl broke the law for false advertising for starting the concerts late. my goodness. now to a slip-up oh boy ceremony ahead of the 2024 summer olympics, the french diver bouncing the wrong way, falling onto the diving board during the opening' of an olympic aquatic center in paris. he later told reporters his leg gave out from underneath him. the swimmer assured fans his back is okay. but his ego is definitely bruised that hurts to watch one couple outrage online: the couple was asking their guests for $5,000 in honeymoon funds two months of home expenses amounting in $3,000. 10, $100 delta airline gift cards. five, $200 gift cards and more. one person saying it's an outrageous witch list saying, quote: they should hide the total amounts. that's what is making them sean seem greedy to between. usually ask for wine glasses and colander. these are very specific amounts of things they want, too. >> steve: and, carley, the guy put his qr code there so the people could venmo it. the extraordinary thing about this is in addition to that money grab, you add it all up, it's close to $30,000. 27,500 i read somewhere. >> brian: wow. >> steve: turns out it is a destination wedding. the wedding is in italy, a fortune to go and figure out what you be going to give them. ainsley: he is an american and she is from italy. and he asked his best friend who is one of the guys in the wedding beyonce to help him with this registry. put some of these amounts on your registry and people will probably be glad to hip. she read it and she said i am just floored. i'm flabbergasted that he put this amount. maybe as a man he just doesn't know that this is tacky. and she is in italy. maybe she doesn't know etiquette in america. she said he sent -- he hand delivered the invitation to her in-law's because they are close family friends. and they have a lot of money. so she said inside their invitation was the venmo code and the list of where can you go to their registry. >> lawrence: i agree with it, too. >> brian: take the pressure off. i wish everybody would register their birthdays and register mother's day. it would just be so much easier. >> ainsley: what would your grandmother say?
