>> i imagine a lot of questions he will say, i can't recall, or he will not answer specifically. will they be able to hold him in contempt? hunter's gamble was to say testify publicly here and help with public image. then we had additional charges filed last week. will this create legal jeopardy for him? the white house not talking about this, which has been par for the course, insisting this up to hunter's lawyers, but they have been talking more publicly. they realize they will be fighting with congress, and courts and public opinion. >> steve: the president's brother james biden was supposed to appear on december 6 and he has still not shown up, right? >> lawmakers have given demands for certain testimony, there is maneuvering and so much happening on the hill, i imagine we'll see jockeying of dates going forward. we expect him to show up. what about a public hearing? we don't know. >> ainsley: axios says biden expressed he feels guilty about his son's legal troubles. they say his mood is shifting. >> lawrence: he can get defensive and feel guilty, american people think it is a big issue. he can avoid congress, he can't avoid the debate stage. a republican will challenge him on it. >> brian: he will avoid the debate stage. he feels bad about it? he got away with it in 2020. he said, it is disinformation as opposed to those are my voicemails, e-mails and photos. >> ainsley: did he think he could squash it continuously? >> steve: when you think about the run-up to him announcing, his son bo biden had died and joe biden said i got to think whether or not to do it or not. i've got to think what is going on. you have to wonder whether or not he added to the equation, this stuff going on with hunter biden, as well. he had the jobs in 2016. you have to figure the president being smart in 2016 was thinking, i wonder if this would come back to haunt me and my son, as well. to tell his close associates, i feel bad, he is right, had he not ran for president, people wouldn't notice. >> brian: there is attention on the republican side. the five states he took from donald trump in the last election, it makes people say, if you can get this domination, you could end up in the white house. not bob dole taking on billion or george w bush, this guy is vulnerable, means attention on iowa and new hampshire. >> lawrence: one candidate getting attention is nikki haley, she grabbed a big endorsement yesterday from chris sununu. this is the governor making his endorsement. >> brian: hold your ears. >> woman who has come to a lot of events, i saw her coming in and she said, are you going to endorse nikki haley as president? you bet your -- i am, let's get this done, all in on nikki haley. >> it doesn't get any better than this, to get endorsed by live free or die governor. >> steve: he had remained like switzerland for the longest time and decided to throw his weight behind nikki haley. nikki haley beats joe biden in a poll by 17 points in a general election. you know what, happy as she is, you know who is sad last night 6:00 in manchester when he made that announcement? chris christie. chris christie put all eggs into the new hampshire basket and i'm sure he was counting on an endorsement. do the math. does chris christie have a shot? nikki haley has a better shot. >> ainsley: he said it only puts me down one vote. he will continue to tell the unvarnished truth about donald trump. donald trump is doing so well in new hampshire, so well in iowa and neither one of the governors have endorsed him. >> brian: seems like ron desantis all in on iowa, got the governor and got the evangelical leader, and all 99 counties, but trailing in latest poll on average, trump has 51 in iowa to desantis 19. if that is the story, maybe ron desantis is out if that is the outcome. with this momentum and 1.4 million people in new hampshire and a lot of people independents, maybe trump feels the haley heat. >> lawrence: if you are traditional republican and don't like the new republican party under donald trump leadership, nikki haley is your last shot at that stand right now. doesn't look like ron desantis has any momentum, he is number four in new hampshire right now. if you want the old republican party, nikki haley is your last shot. if you like the new republican party and agree with donald trump, the election is over in the primary. one thing voters don't like, they don't like their choices being pushed out of the way, this has to naturally happen. what will happen, last stand for ron desantis will be iowa, he's out of money, he wins iowa, or he can continue this or donors will come back. nikki haley, she has money to do it, polling number two in new hampshire. this will give her a bump. again, no one has yet to explain to me how they're going to get 40% of the vote to switch to them when you have donald trump that is leading in every single poll. >> steve: figure ron desantis had that ground game, best ground game in iowa and caucus system, i think he's thinking it is hail mary, we will know. >> lawrence: good point, i keep hearing from ron desantis. why aren't those people talking to the pollsters? 40% margin. >> steve: that is problem with caucus going, it is different, you can't precaucus, show up in that junior high gym and stand in the corner and -- like that. he's putting all eggs in that basket and chris christie -- >> ainsley: are you saying ron desantis is out, he'll drop out? >> i expect everyone to vote for it, talking to speaker johnson and the others, i think we'll have the votes to do it. impeachment power reside in the house of representatives. going on record saying we are moving into this phase of our duty to do oversight courts look in a stronger way. we think we get witnesses in a more timely fashion, we get documents in a more timely fashion and it moves faster. we get the facts for the american people. there are a handful of people we need to talk to and documents we need to get before we decide on whether or not to move forward with articles of impeachment. >> brian: you need background information. you found out things from devon archer, you want to focus on december 4 and his meeting with the richest woman in moscow. >> go back to february of 2014, hunter biden gets a check from the wealthiest woman in russia. he gets that check and six days later russia goes into crimea and sanctions are placed on russian oligarchs and somehow she escapeings sanctions. biden is on the board of burisma and goes to italy and she is also in italy. that is when it all starts and continued through 2018 with foreign interest trying to have influence on this family. >> brian: where is joe in all this and what about devon archer saying joe biden called in a lot. what is your answer to that? >> on december 4, 2015, when the head of burisma asked devon archer and hunter biden, we need help, we are under pressure from the prosecutor in ukraine. devon archer said hunter biden called his dad and three days later his dad goes to ukraine and gets that prosecutor fired. he used taxpayer dollars to go. that is not supposed to be how it works. this story is old as the hills. politician does certain things and benefits his family. then there is an effort to conceal it and that is what david weiss has done. >> brian: you don't know what you don't know. from what you have already done, when kevin mccarthy said we're doing this, you found enough you feel you converted your slim majority? >> my father had a stroke in 2015, right side weakness. it was hard for him to stand up on his own and he did fall down and fracture his spine. it made it harder for him to rehab. i decided to take the time off from work, they were very gracious and understanding and through that stroke, he developed incontinence and dementia. eventually, through rehab, i decided to retire and take care of him in 2020. he suffered from ptsd, from service in the vietnam war. he was an airplane mechanic. his base was attacked several times, he suffered ptsd and depression. >> ainsley: you are taking care of your parents, who both have dementa. what did you go through? >> i developed -- after seven or eight years, i found i was burnt out and frustrated. sometimes my dad doesn't want to get up or take his medicine, i try to find different ways to motivate him. >> ainsley: you found out about the elizabeth dole foundation. she was a precious lady. she developed this foundation and you are helping run it. what do you do? i didn't know this existed until seven years in and you reached out to them for help. >> a lot of americans don't know there are millions of caregivers like chris. chris was a police officer and gave up his livelihood and heroic work to take on another type of heroic work, caring day in and day out for his veteran father who protected our security in vietnam and caregivers like chris are number one investment ensuring veterans can rehabilitate and recover from illness and injuries that occurred during the war. we give resources and technology to provide care at home and help them become stronger agents of support. >> ainsley: you want to recognize chris, what do you want to say to him? >> we talked friday. i've been texting with ron and nikki and i let her know i'm all in. it is going to be intense, fun 40 days as you see momentum build. this is not an endorsement to say, i'm endorsing her, you have to get behind it. everyone is getting there and realize nikki makes a connection with individuals, it is pretty awesome. >> steve: governor haley on real clear politics average, you picked up six points in the last month. you are picking up steam heading into next year, which is what you want to do. >> it's been a good couple of weeks, last week we were endorsed by the most conservative organization, grassroots organization with americans for prosperity and yesterday to be endorsed by live free or die governor, people know it is time for a new generational leader. it would be nice if we had live free or die country. >> steve: governor chris sununu, when you look at polls, donald trump is ahead in your state. but what you are doing, you have been a popular governor in new hampshire particularly with independents, you are asking independents who can vote in this primary to throw support behind the woman sitting next to you, right? >> i'm asking everyone to come out, republican, conservative, independent, i don't care. we're going to have record turnout, if you come out and vote, no doubt nikki haley will win in new hampshire and that is fundamental change. not a candidate in a campaign, it is a movement and movement entire country has been looking for and waiting for. we are going to work hard, earn every vote, momentum is there. when you have economic experience as a governor, understanding what is happening internationally, where issues are pressing, this is not getting behind a candidate that can win, this is getting behind the best qualified person to be president of the united states. it is a full-package deal for citizens of new hampshire and the rest of the country. >> steve, you reported "wall street journal", trump is up. the fact we defeat biden by 17 points, that is mandate to get the economy back on track and get our kids back up to speed and close our border. that is mandate to have law enforcement get fentanyl off the street and have america strong and prevent wars, we don't get into wars and get america back on track. >> steve: ambassador, to square off head-to-head against joe biden, you have to defeat donald trump in the primary, how do you do that? he's way ahead. >> look, i think that i have said, i think donald trump was the right president at the right time. i agree with a lot of his policies. the difference is chaos follows him, rightly or wrongly, we have a country in disarray and a world on fire. the idea we need to go with someone new to give us good solutions and get america back to a place where we are live free or die country and remember government's role is to protect rights and freedom of the people, that is what we want, we want to get back to where people are not working for government and government is working for the people again. we can feel it in new hampshire and know momentum is going into iowa. this is point where america starts to find herself again and i know the american people will make that happen. >> steve: governor sununu, you said there is no way donald trump can win in 2024, yet look at primary polls, he is still way ahead. what happens between now and first tuesday in november? >> no doubt almost any republican can beat joe biden, that is how bad joe biden is. we heard that in 22 and where was the red wave? we heard big win in '20 and it didn't happen. brand at the top matters in terms of winning presidency and winning a school board seat and not have republicans try to explain away top of the ticket. when you remove the drama, we go forward. do we go backward?
