evidence that could have lead to joe biden himself. congressman, mr. chairman, thanks for joining us. hournt biden is -- hunter biden is facing nine additional charges, which he could be sentenced to a maximum of 17 years in prison. your reaction. >> well, i'm not surprised. we've been talking about lots of different crimes that we found in our investigation of the biden family and the house oversight committee, this is one of many crimes. tax evasion, this particular tax evasion pertains to unpaid income while he was working, and i would argue there's other things received money from that he's evaded taxes. and we believe they clearly violated the registration act, we believe they committed money laundering crimes. we believe there's many more. >> when the special council, mr. weisse was named, there was a lot of speculation, he's not going to be fair. not aggressive, the fix was in. looks like all the skeptics were wrong. >> i don't agree with that. this is one of many crimes, in fact, the two things that weisse charged the president's son with is the only two crimes that can't be traced directly back to joe biden. if you argue the registration act violations, he was clearly unregistered foreign agent for china. perhaps romania, ukraine and russia as well. we don't know, but the end of the day, who was he lobbying on behalf of the countries? he was lobbying his father. joe biden could have far liability as well. we believe this was clearly an influenced peddling ring. it's not influenced to the president's son, the brother has just as much liability. and we believe the president of the united states clearly benefitted from the influencing scheme. >> that's what you're saying. the counter argument might be that it's not that he's only charging crimes that cannot be traced to president biden. the counter argument might be, only charging crimes for which there's actual evidence. that leads to the next question. can you name one piece of evidence or testimony that directly and credibly, credibly connects president biden to any of this proven misconduct and proven. >> i can name two. first of all, we believe president biden committed a quid pro quo when he leveraged billions of dollars of taxpayer money in the ukraine in exchange for the -- who was investigating the company that hunter biden just got charging receiving substantial sums of money and not paying taxes. we believe that president biden was directly involved. we believe this, because he admitted it on tape. that's one crime. >> we'll get to the second in a second. the entire western world want him fired. it wasn't just president biden. the entire western world, the european union, the gh, there was a lot of people. including republican members of the house and the senate who wanted him fired. it wasn't just vice president biden conspireing with himself. what's the second one? >> the second one clearly with the registration act. that's why the judge in delaware kicked out the sweet heart plea deal that weisse clearly negotiated. just a few months ago he was trying to negotiate a deal to give hunter biden blanket immunity. and who is he has lobbying on behalf of? on behalf of the enemies around the world. who was he lobbying? his father. >> but we don't have evidence he was -- i don't know the evidence might be, of the registration act. you might be right about that. i don't know what then vice president biden might have done. or in the four years he was not vice president or president. let's move on to other questions. you called biden to testify. and the lawyers are willing to testify publicly, but not behind closed doors. he's afraid the republicans will leak the remarks. why not allow his appearance to be public? i have to say just as a journalist, i'm as you generally know, i like the transparency, ask him anything you want, i would like to see it. >> but our investigation next to adam shift's, and you tell me who's more transparent. every single bit of evidence we talk about, we have four bits of memorandum. that shows bruf proof. -- proof. suspicious activity reports from the banks. you have testimony from deposition and is interviews with respect to crimes committed by the president's family. we have been transparent. every deposition in the history of america has been done behind closed doors. but we release the transcripts. you'll know when he called in this transcribed interview. the children of the former president testified for over 12 hours behind closed doors in a deposition. every big criminal case in america has closed door depositions. >> that wasn't an investigation of ivanka trump, that was a separate investigation. the other question is, isn't something better than nothing. just jump at the you want to be grill hunter -- opportunity to grill hunter biden. >> it's not politics, and not theater. i know the media, and i like you, jake. i know the media would like to have a big public show. that's very entertaining. but my job is not to entertain. >> it's me. >> my job is not to entertain you all. my job is to get the proof. when you have a public hearing, a regular committee hearing, you know how they are. each side gets five minutes, we have 25 republicans, we would probably get 35, maybe 40 questions in. we have 7 or 800 specific questions. we have over 20,000 pages of fake documents. we have dozens and dozens of wires from the enemies around the world. we have no idea what the bidens were doing to receive this money. they didn't pay a penny in taxes on it. what he got charged with, with that indictment last night, that had nothing to do with the so called loans. it appears with the president's son and brother, over $14 million in loans, they didn't make any payments on it. principle or interest. and what point do the loans, if you're not going to pay them back, become income? we think this is just the tip of the iceberg. we think there's many more crimes. my concern is, weisse indicted hunter biden to protect him. from the committee on -- >> indicted him to protect him. yes. the classic rubric. i got it. >> this whole thing is about a coverup. you have two serious -- >> to protect him, to cover it up? >> if you indict him on the least little thing, the gun charge and not facing taxes -- >> he's facing 17 additional years in prison. >> look at what he's done. anyone else in america would be in prison. he owes $2 million. he may owe 7 or $8 million. if the loans are fraudulent. a loan means you'll pay it back. look, at the end of the day, this money is coming from bad people around the world. why are they paying hunter biden? we believe that it's because they want a direct access to joe biden. i don't think that any american would want a president that's compromised to our biggest enemy in the world, china. >> so, again, i ask for one piece of evidence or testimony that directly connects president biden to prove misconduct. >> i did it. the termination of chokin. look, ya'll have been saying no evidence for a long time and hunter is innocence. >> no, no, i never said that about hunter. but, it's only a two hour show. always good to see you, hope you enjoy your weekend. >> you too, thank you. on to the rebuttal to that from a democrat on the house oversight committee, that's next. blavp in our health lead, texas attorney general asking the texas supreme court to review a high profile abortion case. he wants to overturn the order from a texas judge that granted an abortion to kate cox. this after he sent a letter to the houston hospitals arguing that cox doesn't qualify for the strict six week ban and plans to prosecute any provider who facilitates it. her fetus is -- and not expected to live a few days outside the womb. the physician says it puts her at high risk and threatens her life and future fertility. that part is key, texas abortion ban supposedly allows exceptions to save the life of a pregnant woman. kate's doctor says she couldn't provide the abortion without a court order, she couldn't risk the loss of her license. if her belief is not accepted by the court, texas is still threatening to prosecute. where the doctor or anyone else be willing to provide this abortion? >> well, i think what the attorney general's activity over the last day shows the medical exceptions to texas's abortion bans never existed in practice. what we have here is a set of doctors in a real patient, a real person going through a heart breaking situation wrient her family. -- with her family. she's suffering the loss of a pregnancy, and dealing with the real implications with her health and future fertility. we have the attorney general tempting to practice medicine, i guess, and second guess the judgement of the physicians who have put their lives on the line. what would you do if you were her doctor? and the second of the lawsuit was filed, we got this order that attorney general personally threatened you and every hospital you ever worked at? it's unimaginable. >> i'm not questioning the doctor's activities. the attorney general says it doesn't qualify under the emergency exemption. has the state clearly defined what that exemption looks like? >> they never have. they have both a six week abortion ban in texas that's been in effect for two years and a complete abortion ban that's lost in all of this. it's not -- we have two years of huge, massive abortion ban. two years and not once the state told us what they think the exception means. they tells us it's clear, yesterday is the first time they say, this is not enough. not close enough. i, want to be the one to decide. >> i want to decide everyone out there, and the texas law allows private citizens to sue anyone who assists anyone to get an abortion in the state. people can, of course, in theory travel out of state for an abortion with no legal repercussions. but that's obviously complicated ordeal. tell us where kate is challenging texas instead of going out of state? >> there's two things i want to say here. you mentioned the vigilante aspect of the law. both kate and her husband and the doctors are plaintiffs in this case. kate's husband has potential liability if he assists her in getting an abortion that the attorney general thinks violate the law. this is not a hypothetical situation, this is a real family going through this, and trying to figure out what to do. obviously she's putting herself out there and taking a stand. it's simple. she wants to be able to access health care in her community. the people talk cavalierly, to travel out of state for urgent health care. it's not a small thing to do, and a huge ask for many families. it's a human rights violation on it's like own. but the vast majority of the families, it's not an option at all. people are forced to carry pregnancies to term, even when it means putting their lives and future fertility on the line. >> thank you very much, appreciate your time today. >> thanks for having me. coming up next, what the democrats say of the republicans going after the hunter biden family, stay with us. a rebuttal to oversight committee, the new charges for hunter biden. to dan goldman, who's also on the house oversight committee. i'm not sure if you heard the interview, but he said he thinks the -- indicted hunter biden in order to protect him. he's using the lesser charges. i couldn't make much sense of it, i wanted to give you an opportunity as a democrat on the committee to respond. >> yeah, i think through the whole interview what's up is down and down is up for the chairman. the only reason i think hunter biden was prosecuted and charged with the crimes, which is almost never charged for if gun charged and settled civilly for the tax charges is because of the undo and improper interference in ongoing criminal investigation. but that's the least of concerns about what he said. chairman comber may be a great farmer but he has no idea what he's talking about with the federal law. there's nothing remotely close to violation or money laundering, i don't think he knows what they are and certainly don't understand what's required by that. you asked a very good question to actually name evidence. every time he goes on tv, he makes bold accusations of the crimes, crimes, crimes and they, they, they, even though it's only hunter. the only piece of evidence he pointed to was the barrista situation where j.b. encouraged the chairman to fire -- that's been up, down, left, right to be completely bogus, and to fire chokin was bad for -- and bad for hunter biden. this is a house of cards with no evidence and chairman comber just proved that to you. >> i want to ask you of the new charges for hunter biden. the indictment says he spent the money on drugs, escorts and girlfriends. exotic cars, clothing and other items of a personal nature. in short, everything but the taxes. you're not arguing that it's not egregious. he had the money, and spent it on other stuff, and didn't pay the taxes. >> no, i'm saying the interference by the republicans is what undid his plea agreement. he had reached whatever deal, it appears that hunter biden certainly engaged in misconduct. it's not the oversight committee in congress to investigate hunter biden. they have shown no connection to hunter biden, and the person they're trying to impeach, it's a farce and sham for them to go forward with an impeachment investigation because of hunter biden's wrong doing with no connection to joe biden. that's what this is. it's a political, partisan effort to appease donald trump and to engage in slander and complete out right lies for their own political benefit. >> i thought, correct me if i'm wrong. i thought the plea deal blew up because of hunter biden's attorney wanted a guarantee that if donald trump were to come into office they couldn't then charge hunter biden. a guarantee of no future charges added and they wouldn't offer that. and so, hunter biden's attorney walked away from the deal. and i understand why they would want that. but hunter biden's attorney -- >> it was a combination of that and the fact that donald trump has demonstrated that he'll weaponize the department of justice and hunter biden was understandably concerned that someone as lawless as donald trump if he were to become prosecute would persecute and prosecute hunter biden. the judge had a role in it. and it underscores how absurd the republican's allegations are. the reason that hunter biden wanted this protection because of a legitimate fear that donald trump would pursue criminally his enemies, because he is an authoritarian in waiting and this is a nominee for the republican party. it's a legitimate concern for hunter biden. >> thank you, happy hanukkah. >> thank you, you too. coming up, what israel says happened when the forces tried to rescue more hostages from hamas. stay with us. the united states vetoed an un draft resignation, calling for a cease fire in gaza. 13 countries voted in favor. the british sustained. the intense fighting is recorded in southern gaza, that's a main stronghold of hamas. two israel soldiers were severely injured during an operation to rescue hostages in gaza, but no hostages were freed. and we're seeing images of soldiers dozens stripped to their underwear, wearing blind folds. in general, images of the region of stripped down palestinians are hamas members and suspected hamas members without referring to any specific photographs. we do know every day, images of the horrific suffering of people in gaza. looking for food and safe shelter. what we don't usually hear is what the palestinians who live in gaza actually think of hamas and the war. that's why our next guest is here. joseph browedry. your group has produced a group of videos, called a whisper of gaza. here's an example. >> there's a false stereo type of palestinians in gaza love rockets and wars. the wars are created by the hamas government. if you're a gaza citizen who opposes war, and says, i don't want war, it's forbidden to say you don't want war. they exploit us under the pretext of resistance. consider the wars in 2008, 2012, 2014, and 2020. they made profit out of it, and only the people suffered. when there's a war and they get more aid money, they're the ones who benefit and we get nothing. >> so important for the world to hear the voices. tell us more about how you recorded that and what the purpose of your group is. >> well the center for peace communications is concerned for amplifying the forces. and partnership and peace, among themselves and including the israel neighbors. and there's a lot of gazans, who had the courage to hold street demonstrations in 2019, and again as recently as july of this year. they braved gun fire and prison. but, the world hasn't paid much attention to them. and they still want to be heard. we launched an initiative to interview gazans across the strip, and platform them safely by working with a team of animators and illustrators to do visual representations of the voices the story told. >> here's a clip of another project. this was recorded two weeks into the israel and hamas war. >> at this time, as a person living in the prison that's gaza, my prime and immediate enemy is hamas. not the occupation. i have no house. no life. nothing. we're condemned to suffer because of this stupid organization. who made us live in poverty in gaza? not the jews, hamas. because of the events from october 7, the world changed their view of the gaza strip. everyone believed we're terrorists, comparing us to isis. a lot of people suffered from this. to be candid, hamas has wrecked the palestinian people. i hope our voice reaches the outside world. >> i am sure there's a lot of gazans who are furious and -- with the i see -- israel. and your project is about pretending otherwise, right? >> absolutely. and of course, it's possible to be antihamas and antiisrael at the same time. when you look at survey data, it shows that as many as 70% of palestinians in gaza on the eve of this war was in favor of hamas disarming. and alternative administration ruling the strip. there's also statistics showing a large number of gazans, supporting the resistance in the abstract. burr at the same time, they're -- but, at the same time, they're angry at hamas for starting wars they can't win. so, these seemingly contradictory ideas can inhabit one mind. >> multitudes. hamas tries to silence free expression. >> i was working for foreign press agencies. because someone needed to provide news coverage. while i was covering the event, i was beaten. my hand was broken. my cell phone was broken. my camera was broken. our household was mistreated. my entire extended family, a lot of them, any member of my family they got ahold of, was jailed. they bated and abused them -- beat and abused them. they put nails in their feet. >> tough stuff there. >> in our new free press series, we're getting a chance for these and other voices in gaza to comment on a regular basis about what's happening to them in this war. but it is very dangerous for people to openly express opposition to hamas, and even now, people are afraid to speak because they aren't yet convinced that hamas is out of power when the fighting stops. >> of course, it's deadly to be a journalist in gaza right now with dozens of journalists killed and the bombardment by the idf. hopefully that'll end soon and the palestinian people will have a brighter day. thank you very much for the time and your project. we're monitoring an event right now with president biden, he's in nevada after another horrific shooting in the state this week. keep it here. you're probably not easily persuaded to switch mobile providers for your business. but what if we told you it's possible that comcast business mobile can save you up to 75% a year on your wireless bill versus the big three carriers? did we peak your interest? you can get two unlimited lines for just $30 each a month. there are no term contracts or line activation fees. and you can bring your own device. oh, and all on the most reliable 5g mobile network nationwide. wireless that works for you. it's not just possible, it's happening. president biden on the campaign trail in nevada right now. he addressed the tragic shooting at the unlv last week. take a listen. >> folks, we have to get smart. and over 600 mass shootings in america this year alone, and daily acts of gun violence that don't make the national news. this is not normal, and we cannot let it be normal. people have the right to be safe, be safe. and i'm fighting for it to be true. we need congress to step up. >> my panel is here, the trip was planned before the mass shooting. but this issue of gun violence, obviously, a big part of the pitch. he's really focused on the suburban women, who this is an issue that could help win over. he's shaky with them right now. >> certainly, it's something we can talk about in terms of messaging push. i think there are certain segments of the population that this is more geared towards. in terms of the reality, back in washington, dc, he has made this kind of speech in the past, many many times. that's the depressing thing about this. this is an issue, as you know the white house is very very familiar with. another mass shooting, you go and talk about this is not acceptable, there needs to be action on the hill. but the president knows how difficult this is. it is very very challenging, and i don't think he's standing up there, thinking something will get done. >> of course, not. but the main focus of this trip and the reelect is the economy. you handled messages for the biden administration. this is what the acting secretary said of the job report and unemployment falling. take a listen. >> in fact, that low unemployment rate is the lowest unemployment rate for the longest stretch since diana ross stopped the charts. part of overall story of how the economy is strong. bidenomics is working. >> i don't know what that means. the 60s, 70s? when americans are asked about how president biden is handling the economy, 67% disapprove. only 33% approve. so regardless of the ross and the supreme's references, two out of three americans do not think that bidenomics is working for them. >> i think there's a few reasons. personally, it's hard to prove a negative. it's hard to say, things could have been so much worse. i think that's true, if you look at where the predictions were when joe biden took office. recession, soft landing, crater out, any 10%, 15% unemployment? we're not having the conversation today. but that's a hard thing to communicate. because what people are feeling, yes, tremendous job creation, yes, wages are up but prices are also high. and people are feeling that. what biden needs to do is to channel the anger. bring the i'm fighting for you message to the economic messages. biden gets the underlying view the economy should work for middle class families. the more they can do to talk about how they're addressing prices and cost. they're doing this with the junk fee work, on health care costs. the more they can lean into that, he's fighting on crisis, the better off they'll be. >> the problem is here, the inflation is improving slowly. the soft landing may come at some point in the new year. but the reality is, most are not feeling it. living wages. god forbid if you live in new york city. you're a family, with young kids, you have to afford for day care. most can't afford the basic necessities. it's a success on paper, i would applaud the president and pat him on the back. but the reality is, most don't feel it. reality is perception. the >> part of the thing with this event, you are seeing it play out, the difficulty in selling something like the infrastructure package is that it is a huge piece of legislation, and it takes a really long time for these things to actually go into effect. so you are talking about money, you are talking about funding, but at the end of the day you are like standing in front of a bridge that is still broken, you are going to a train depot, and like the rail tracks haven't been built yet. i think that is a part of the disconnect. you don't have like tangible material things that you can point to yet to say like, i did this, this was my white house that did this. >> the other big news, special counsel investigating hunter biden charging him with nine additional charges. these are federal tax charges including failure to file, pay taxes. pretty unseemly because it goes into what he was spending his money on instead of paying his taxes and it is a whole bunch of taxes i wasn't spending my money on, and filing a fraudulent tax return. how is the white house responding to these charges? >> you know, there are a few issues i think at the white house that are more sensitive in the building than the issue of the president's son. i think, in fact, you know, when you talk to people and they say, this is what the president thinks or feels about the troubles that his son is facing, they probably actually don't know because so few people actually have firsthand insight into how he is processing all of this. i think politically they're going to try to make the case look like most people are not going to vote on the issue of the president's son, but, yeah, it is an image issue. it is a political headache. republicans are trying to weaponize this and, yeah, that is frustrating for the white house that wants to be focusing on lots of ot things. >> did you see the interview i did with the oversight committee chairman. >> i did. >> where he said that the special counsel was indicting hunter biden in order to protect him? >> of course i saw that, jake. >> what did you make of that? >> the president's son more than likely will face jail time as we were discussing. >> i think it is possible. >> these are very serious charges. the white house -- >> it is not protecting him, by the way. >> you don't want to talk about this while running for election, but i want to be sensitive because it is the president's son. we know hunter biden has had a difficult path and we know a lot of people have had children that dealt with addiction and we should be sensitive as he goes through the process. >> the white house not talking about this is strategic value, too. this was a piece of the campaign in 2019 and 2020. they tried to tar joe biden with the idea he has done something wrong. what the white house is doing is showing that joe biden is hands off. he is letting the doj run the process. that is good for the white house. there's strategic value in not -- this is not just, oh, they don't want to talk about the president's son. >> can i say this is where a republican president in office, would we give the same level of freedom here? would we give that same level of grace? i'm not certain many republicans would think so. >> but my point is you had jim comber on, and his argument was the big smoking gun is that biden got rid of show kin, who as you pointed out the entire western world wanted to get rid of. by the way, because he was not seriously rooting out corruption. >> right. >> the substance isn't there, so the white house not engaging is a smart strategic decision. >> and the president himself, he has been very, very consistent on this. what you will hear him say is i love my son, i support his recovery and i'm proud of him and that's it. >> but for the most part -- >> he would prefer to talk about the economy and the recovery than the issues his son is facing, no doubt about that. >> thanks to all of you. we will be right back. lil in our pop culture lead, oscar-nominated actor ryan o'neal, the star of several landmark films including-
