and we don't know what the differences are. we few from the outset hamas did something very different here. they attacked a civilian population on october 7th, their primary attack, versus the idf which has been the case in the past. and two, they took significant amount of hostages as part of their plan. we speculated the reason for the hostages was that they would use them to be able to release them to get cease fires so that they can rearm and reequip and move their people out of harm's way. and also keep sufficient number of hostages to make certain that the regime survives. remember, the military task assigned by israel's national authority is to dismantle hamas. and that's what they are attempting to do as a military and terrorist organization effectiveness, their entire network and as a governing body. that's a tall task. obviously hamas absolutely sees one of the things that they want out of this is to preserve the regime. if they're able to preserve their regime they'll declare victory that everything they lost was absolutely worth it because they got widespread condemnation of israel on the international community. some geopolitical isolation and they the ground so our audience understands, israel is clearing northern gaza. they have to move to the eastern part of gaza to finish it and deal with the tunnel complex. what hamas has been doing. they have not been defending. they have been delaying actions and in military terms trading space for time. why? to preserve their force. a lot of their force has their leaders and a lot of their fighters have already moved south where there will be a pending humanitarian crisis given the concentration of people that are down there. plus obviously a very intense combat operation being conducted there. >> bill: matt, you gave a comment to our producers and you said with regard to the age issue that will get a lot of news throughout the day today and maybe beyond that is take it head on. how would from a referendum about biden's age, do voters like the fact he is 81, into a choice between two guys who are functionally the same age. joe biden and donald trump were in high school at the same time. in ninth grade, a three-year age difference matters. at this age it doesn't. what voters will have to choose between is two guys who are old. they don't get to choose a young person unwills they beating them by four points. you could take a lower demographic in the same poll and find it's close to 50/50. but here is the issue, charlie. the reason why younger voters are going against joe biden is because of the war in the middle east. i mean, i don't know who on this planet would have predicted that before the war with a w hamas broke out. here we are and i would argue for the sake of the democratic party it's not just young democrats or even young voters. it is this political civil war within the democratic party. i'm not sure how it shakes out over the next 12 months. >> i think this concern among democrat voters about joe biden is probably the most alarming thing but that number that you just showed with 18 to 34-year-old voters is shocking to me. of course, this is after joe biden has shamelessly tried to buy their vote by paying off college debt. you know, if that's the trend this is going in and whether it is the one i think that probably has a lot to do with the war, this is where identity politics leads you, the protests we're seeing in the streets right now. and i think that it spells doom for the guy. the larger age problem for joe biden is his argument has always been i have experience. so he brings experience. what do you get with experience? two new wars, you get a disastrous withdrawal from afghanistan, you get an open border, you get one of the most corrupt political families to ever occupy the white house. that's what experience brings you? that's real trouble. and so being 81 doesn't help you, that's what it gets you, i think that -- i think he polls that we're seeing right now are people telling pollsters they are upset with joe biden and i believe that to be true. but by the time we get to november they don't get to register discontent.
