media rewriting 9-11 history now. it is the newest ugly chapter from those praising the work of hamas on october 7. now they're saying that they are now understanding things about bin laden and 9-11 that they never understood before they say. 22 years later. imagine how the families of 9-11 victims feel when they hear these voices. and there is much more on this front to dig in to today. we'll spine with ian allie later this hour and get her reaction to these in some cases, i should say, hamas sympathizers and now showing some sympathy or understanding for the thinking of osama bin laden. first we want to bring you the breaking news. president biden at the apex summit in california just said that his relationship with president xi of china is not cumbaya. secretary of state blinken appeared to whence when the president referred to xi as a dictator. watch this closely on the left-hand side of your screen. watch. >> mr. president, after today, would you still refer to president xi as a dictator? >> look, he is. he's a dictator in the sense that he's a guy that run as country that is -- >> martha: you can kind of see that from our secretary of state. he watches the president extremely closely, word for word at these things. china now slamming the president, calling that comment "irresponsible political manipulation." we will speak with the former secretary of state, mike pompeo and bret baier is standing by as well to join us in moments. first to peter doocy with the president in san francisco. hi, peter. >> martha, president biden is here trying to smooth things over with the chinese. making progress on fentanyl and trying to get the militaries to talk to each other. that could be in peril that he made off of the cuff where he said that xi is a dictator. when he watched the video in slow motion, you can see the secretary of state, it looks like it hurts him to hear the president say that. he grimaced possibly while he was flashing back to june when president biden was telling donors about the spy balloon. that's what a great embarrassment -- that's a great embarrassment for dictators when they don't know what happened. the chinese side at the time came out to say the chinese government and people do not accept any political provocation against china's top leader and will resolutely respond. president xi talked to ceos in fran a few hours after president biden called him a dictator and appeared to still want to move closer to the u.s. >> china is ready to be a partner and friend of the united states. >> as president biden hosts xi, governor newsome is hosting president biden. president biden is now saying he's well aware of the whispers that newsome is tip toeing around 2024 talk. >> i want to talk about governor newsome. i want to thank him. he's been one hell of a governor, man. he could have the job i'm looking for. >> and we just watched as the presidential motorcade moved from one part of the convention center to another for a family photo where the leaders will get together and smile for the camera. it was amazing to see as the beast drove down the street here at apec, it drove by a demonstration where there's about 30 people weigh -- waving chinese flags. >> probably notice as friendly as the doocy photo for christmas. we'll keep an eye on it. thanks, peter. mike pompeo was severely critical of china issuing this warning in 2020. >> if we bend the knee now, our children's children may be at the mercy of the chinese communist party whose actions of the primary challenge today in the free world. >> martha: mike pompeo now a fox news contributor. joins me now. good to see you as always. what did you think in that moment when you see the secretary of state now, antony blinken whencing when he hears biden say yes, he's a dictator? >> thanks for having me on. you know, i don't want to make much of that. all of us that serve presidents are trying to figure out what our boss is going to say. >> martha: so you saying you whenced once in a while at your boss? >> there might have been one orb two moments. the reality is president biden got this right. secretary blinken knows that, too. xi jinping's words saying that he wants to be friendly to the united states are words. there's not a single-action that this man has taken that has led anyone to believe that they want to be friends with the united states of america. not just the spy balloon but continuing to steal intellectual property. i don't think for a second we'll see a slow down in the precursors out of china. you can see it in the promise that he broke to the people of hong kong. the list of lies from xi jinping. the lie he told president obama in the rose garden in 2015 about militarizing the spratley islands. i expect his statements to those business leaders will be false as well. >> martha: you spoke out in the 2020 speak about how 50 years of trying to have engagement with china going back to nixon opening the door to china and the theory was that if you put a lot of light on this subject and we have trade and interaction, that it would form a different kind of relationship. you say that that, you know, we need to put that idea back in the bottle. it turned out to be a mistake, right? >> martha, it's failed. so i think -- i don't think that's truly disputable. it didn't work. it didn't slow down this regime. there's a million people prisoner in the western part of its country. muslim prisoners there. think about that in context to the middle east today and goes unnoticed. we saw what happened during covid. millions have perished because the chinese communist party refused to compare about humanity. we'll still have some relationship with china. always be interactions. we should not for a moment think that xi jinping's intent, his desire to construct a world that operates on a set of lennonist principles is not at the set of his objective. he's working hard to do it. the people of taiwan are at risk. we have a responsibility to build up a model of deterrence. that cannot be to continue to send our technology to china to allow them to steal or technology, to continue to allow them to operate in our universities across this country and steal our stuff. we have to rethink that. that speech that i gave in spring of 2020 was the trump administration's statement about how we ought to think about our interactions the way we engage. when we put pressure on xi jinping, he will have to confirm to the american model and not allow to us conform to their communist model. >> martha: we have to get in his head and see whether he feels like he has to do that. thanks, former secretary of state, former cia director. good to have you with us. thanks, sir. joining me now, bret baier, fox news chief political editor and anchor of "special report." he has a new childrens back out called "children across time." we're looking for ward to that. let me get your thoughts on what we're seeing here unfold in china. with that in mind, let's just look at these approval numbers that have come out in the new fox polling. the president faces a very uphill battle. his disapproval numbers are at record highs with men, voters understood 45, hispanic voters and black voters. here's an opportunity he's had in the last couple days on the world stage. bret, what are your take on that? >> my take is those are horrible numbers. the independent numbers are really bad. down to 30% approval. that's across the board. not broken down in to demographics. the hope i think was with the biden campaign to make foreign policy something that he could campaign on. you saw already an ad where he's in that train to kiev to meet with president volodymyr zelensky. they're trying to circumstance italian wagons about how he's dealing with israel and hamas. but there's real questions about what is coming out of this meeting. you just heard mike pompeo who obviously has been a critic of china and very critical of how this administration is handling it. there's real questions about the deliverables. is this fentanyl deal really going to happen? last night the president said trust but verify. there's a lot of eyebrow raising ant whether china is going to come through. the flip side is that china's vulnerable now on its economy. they are hurting. they need u.s. investment. they do big numbers in imports to get things in to china. they have real problems economically. that should a time when we have some advantage. the question is will the president take it. >> martha: maybe the $45,000 a plate dinner was more important with the ceos for president xi than with president biden. who knows. i want to take a look at this moment and get your quick thought on it before we go here. this is him talking ant gavin newsome. i thought this was interesting, bret. let's play it. >> i want to talk about governor newsome. i want to thank him. he's been one hell of a governor, man. as a matter of fact, he could get anything he wants. he could have the job i'm looking for. >> martha: what did you make of that, bret? >> listen, he has to hear the foot steps. he has to hear the governor. the governor of california doesn't go to the southern border and do a video. he doesn't go to israel, he doesn't go to china and meet with xi jinping unless there's bigger thoughts about what he wants to do, whether it's this time or next time. but clearly president biden acknowledges that. i think was making a little joke about it. >> martha: got someone in the wings. thanks, bret. good to see you. see you on "special report" tonight. thanks. all right. so chaos and violence and rage in the u.s. capitol. stunning scenes last night as pro palestinian protests demand that the democrat party do more to stop the war. >> we were surprised at how quickly it escalated. we came out here to make our demand to our electives. we voted them in to office. we should be able to talk to them. >> dan senor and ian allie after this. this is remington. he's a member of the family, for sure. we always fed him kibble it just seemed like the thing to do. but he was getting picky, and we started noticing some allergy symptoms. we heard about the farmer's dog and it was a complete transformation. his allergies were going away and he just had amazing energy. it's a no-brainer that remi should have the best nutritious and delicious food possible. i'm investing in my dog's health and happiness. ♪ get started at longlivedogs.com i suffer with psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis. i was on a journey for a really long time to find some relief. cosentyx works for me. cosentyx helps real people get real relief from the symptoms of psoriatic arthritis or psoriasis. serious allergic reactions, severe skin reactions that look like eczema, and an increased risk of infections, some fatal, have occurred. tell your doctor if you have an infection or symptoms, had a vaccine or plan to or if ibd symptoms develop or worsen. i move so much better because of cosentyx. ask your rheumatologist about cosentyx. if you're a veteran wife, homeowner, and the family bookkeeper, you're the first to know when high rate debt is stressing your budget. but your family's service has earned you a big advantage. the va home loan benefit. with the lower rate newday 100 va cash out loan, you can pay off high rate credit cards and car loans. and can save $6,000 a year. that's real money you can use to take care of your family and home. the power goes out and we still have wifi to do our homework. and that's a good thing? >> i'd say the outrage that seems to being expressed and directed at israel and at jews everywhere is the jews' objected on october 7th to being slaughtered. the most barbaric forces were unleashed on the jewish people not only in israel but seeing echos around it around the world. it's quite chilling. and why? before even israel responded, israel left the gaza strip in 2005. they have not occupied the gaza strip in 18 years. yet israel is attacked with these genocidal tactics and the genocidal agenda by an organization that has genocide against the jews written into its chartser. israel's attacked unprovoked. before israel responds, these protests begin against israel. why? they object to being slaughtered. that is just the reality. i think you saw the contrast between the values, the principals and the world views of these two communities, those protesting against israel and almost apologizing or add investor kating for the barbarism and those advocating for a free and independent and secure jewish state, which is one of the strongest allies of the united states and the world. >> martha: i can't remember if we talked about this the last time you were here. you say that, that israel left gaza in 2005. what did you think about it when president obama said, you know, that it's the occupiers, it's partly on them. it's an occupied territory. >> honestly, i thought at that moment, i'm so pleased. i rarely say this, that president biden is president right now. if you had to have someone from that administration rather than president obama. what president obama said a is factually incorrect. israel has been out of gaza. israel is not occupying gaza. the other problem with what president obama said, which is a little chilling, is -- it was like a rationalization. a yes spot. it was yes, it's awful what hamas did, but you need to understand the terrible conditions the palestinian people live in. why do the palestinian live in terrible conditions? it's not because of israel. it's because hamas has been running the gaza strip since 2007. hamas is responsible for the casualties of jewish citizens of israel and of palestinians living in gaza. i mean, i don't think -- i think president obama is a smart man. he knows the facts. i think that analysis was not operating in good faith. >> martha: seems that big leaders and speakers say do matter in this moment. i want to play this. this is from october 28. this is former president trump. listen to what he says here. >> if you sympathize with jihadists, then we don't want you in our country. i will cancel the student visas of hamas, sympathizers on college campuses come 2025, we will find you and we will deport you. >> neil: do you think that is received in this moment? >> there's a distinction between free expression. people have a right to free expression. there's that an incitement of violence. hate crimes and incitement of hate crimes. obstructing people's ability to live their lives in this country. jewish students being able to go to class. there's an organized effort after october 7 to make it harder for jews on college campuses and elsewhere to live their lives. to go about their business. to go about their studies. there's an organized effort. so there you have a student visa or not, that cannot be tolerated. and that is not a free speech issue. >> martha: all right. we have more to talk to you about. dan is going to stick around around we'll speak with him later. pick up our conversation in a few minutes. thanks, dan. breaking right now, a new response from tik tok to a flood of sickening videos in which users sympathize and say that they understand osama bin laden based on a letter that he wrote a year after 9-11, justifying or stating his reasons for carrying out that attack and murdering nearly 3,000 americans on september 11th, 2001. dan is going to stick around and we'll have aayan ali joining us in a couple moments as well. j.p. morgan wealth management knows it's easy to get lost in investment research. get help with j.p morgan personal advisors. hey, david! ready to get started? the white house says that phrase can be anti-semitic. are you anti-semitic, congress woman talib? are you anti-semitic congress woman talib? are you anti-semitic congress woman talib? are you anti-semitic congress woman talib? >> martha: she doesn't want to answer those questions. she has said that from the river to the sea is a call for -- is a quote freedom, human rights and peaceful co existence statement, not death, destruction or hate statement. so this story i think a lot of us that watch these this morning felt kind of sick about watching some of what was being said on tik tok. especially if you know any one that was lost on september 11th in this country. you would find this very disturbing. osama bin laden's letter to america that he wrote a year after 9-11 blamed the united states for the attacks of that day that killed almost 3,000 people and now these people who are reading the letter that he wrote, they're talking about it. this has gone viral on tik tok. the site says that it is aggressively removing these videos now and we can attest to that. some of what the most egregious things are gone now from tik tok. so one of them said that the idea of the terrorism had been sold to the american people, talked about that. said it was a farce essentially. they called 911 the build up of our government failing other nations. that's why 9-11 happened. the united states government failed other countries. here's a sampling of what is left out there on tik tok. >> i need you to stop what you're doing and go read a letter to america. it's literally the craziest thing i have read in awhile. while i can't say i'm that surprised, i'm shocked. >> this is not like an argument for bin laden. he had some good points. >> he could have left the gays and the family queens out of it. the rest of it, he's hating. >> if you're disgusted by terror and bigotry and violence, you should be disgusted by the terror of the u.s. government military. >> tik tok will save this generation. >> keep in mind that the numbers of people on tik tok goes in to the tens of middles. 15 a million people are on tik tok. 3.6 billion hours of content each month. so this is not something to, you know, laugh off. this is a huge influence maker in the country. human rights activists and hoover institution research fellow, ayyan ali here with us. for to william la jeunesse with more on this story. hi, william. >> this story developed in the last 24 hours. both parties are now blasting tik tok where it all started. the company's defending itself saying the embracing of this letter is across all social media platforms, a 25-year-old los angeles influencer that posts regularly on diet and fashion discovered or was directed to this letter by osama bin laden written 20 years ago on a british newspaper website. she posted a video linking to the letter, which says jews have no right to a homeland and blames america for terrorist acts because of their support of israel. i need everyone to stop what the they're doing right now and go read the letter, she says, because "i'm going through like an existential crisis." many people did. her video got two million views and some 200,000 likes with most saying that they too feel angry, manipulated and lied to by the american media and schools. >> for someone on tik tok to somehow suggest that this is america's fault or that bin laden who killed thousands of innocent americans was right is absolutely disgusting and further evidence that we need to ban tik tok. >> so the conversation then migrated from tik tok over to redit and twitter where hundreds of thousands agreed with her video and posted similar views on the anti-american letter with no context on bin laden or the killing of 3,000 americans. >> the burden is not on the meeting entities, it's on the consume tore say what kind of news that they prefer. what do people prefer? they prefer things that confirm their existing beliefs. >> so tik tok took down the video saying they're investigating how it got on their platform. that's funny. since the l.a. times did a story on this very influencer two years ago and how she makes a living, $200,000 a year posting on tik tok, instagram and youtube. so maybe accounting can find her. martha? >> martha: good point, william. let's bring in aayan ali from stanford university and host of the aayan ali podcast. good to have you here with us today. what is your reaction when you listen to the students that say that they were brainwashed in school and nobody taught them that the united states had some culpability that they would understand where bin laden is coming from in the attacks on 9-11? >> i think -- first of all, i have to say, i am surprised, i'm shocked, disgusted like everyone else. but not of the kids. not of the 25-year-old, 20-year-olds tik tok users. it's our education system. it's our media system. if you look at what happened in the last 20 years, it's the rights and rise of the woke mind virus. what does the woke mind virus do? it propagates that america is a place built on slavery, it's about exploitation. it goes to other countries and it kills and enslaves and exploits and all of these things. if you get that letter with no context, looks like this woman stumbled open it. she talked of an existential crisis. she says she felt as if she lives in some kind of dystopia. she does that. she shares that with almost an entire generation. so i think part of what we need to do aside from having this conversation about what to do about tik tok is to try to see if we can rescue that generation from itself and remind them what is good and right and fine about america. i also wanted to talk a little bit about the letter. i downloaded the letter. the letter has the structure of a fatah. i have that background. it is -- it sums up all of these things that bin laden accuses america of doing. but essentially what he's saying is he's applying sharia law and based on his understanding of sharia law, america should, among others, stop supporting israel, stop these policies and essentially america should accept sharia law or no peace. to these kids on tik tok don't have that context because we didn't give it to them. >> martha: i mean, i'd love or the them to speak to young women in iran or in the gaza strip for that matter who lived under the heavy hand of islamic law that doesn't allow them to do what they want. they can't go anywhere. they have to be covered. that's the way bin laden wanted this country to be. it's one way to thing those things and talk about those things. it's another to slaughter 3,000 people that committed the sin of going to work that way, dan. and these kids -- i agree. it's the fault of our education system in many ways -- say they understand where he's coming from. >> the question is where are the checks on these kids completely ignorant misguided education. where are the shock absorbers, that when they develop these naive, news, that say wait and stop. when you see these videos of people going viral, they bought into it. there's no institutional check. if you go through any century, you see crazy ideologies, crazy anti-semitism. we've seen it all. in this environment, we get a transparent view in to it through social media like tik tok and it's also in its own way an accelerant of it. we not only get a window, it spread further than it otherwise would. >> martha: i keep thinking about how the people that keep their eye on social media in al-quaida and isis and hamas, they must take a lot of satisfaction in this. some of their work is being done for them in terms of the wild fire impact of this message. >> oh, absolutely. their work is being done for them. it was done for years. i remember having all of these fights with people. let's call this by its name. let's explain the ideology. it's radical political islam. it's a very anti-semitic tropes with ideas based on islam. we don't teach that stuff. we don't want to touch that stuff. you have kids that grow up, they don't have any context, they don't have any history. and then again to go back to the rise of the woke mind virus. i think we're at risk of losing almost an entire generation to our enemies. >> martha: the other thing that strikes me, dan and you talked about this in your podcast with dana the other day, the learning depth of the family and faith and the structure in all of that, right? i look at these kids. i'm thinking this ideology and spreading it to each other, it further separates them from their education, from their schools, from their families. they're saying you've been lied to. this whole system lied to you. now i'm going to tell you the truth. your parents are old. they don't get it. this is what is being perpetuated by this, which feeds in to a lot of larger sort of thought patterns that you can talk about that are really built on that, dan. >> yeah, in a world in which people are not taught history, really taught history, so that was -- that's what i was referring to with so few institutional checks. even in higher institutions of learning they're not teaching history. there's no rituals. the rituals in our society that brings generations together. younger people are spending time with older people. they're learning their life experiences -- people are living these atomized lives and lonely and attaching themselves to these causes that give themselves a meaning. ritual is broken down and community has broken down in so many parts of the west and this part of the country. that's what they latch on to here. >> martha: aayan, last thought here. their ritual is social media. >> yeah. i think dan has put his finger right on the spot. the breakdown of rituals, the breakdown of the judeo-christian fundamental principles of how to raise children, the difference between right and wrong, between good and evil. all of that is not taught to these kids. we're failing them. i see this as an opportunity. i think actually we are lucky. now we can see what is happening. we can't argue with it. i hope that we have this sense of urgency to get going with trying to give these kids some context about the ideologies and the threats out there. >> martha: absolutely. i was kind of encouraged that many of these kids took them down because i think maybe someone in their life said to them, you don't know what you're talking about. let's have a conversation about this, let's talk about the 300 plus firefighters that went up the staircases knowing that they were going to die to save people. let's talk about what freedom is in this country and all of these issues that they need to have a discussion about. i want to thank both of you. wonderful to you talk to you. ayaan and dan, thanks for joining me today. israel and hamas are reportedly getting close to a deal to free dozens of israeli women and children. this is a fast-moving story. these individuals whose faces have families connected to them, you see them on our wall right now, they have now been held for more than a month. the "new york times" and "the washington post" reporting that the deal would include the release of palestinian women and children being held in israel and a humanitarian pause in fighting. sadly an agreement will be too late for one family. the israeli military reported a short time ago that the body of one hostage was found in gaza. first to jeff paul result from southern israel. hi, jeff. >> yeah, martha. as we have seen in the past, any sort of hostage deal is contingent on what is happening here on the ground. rockets are still being fired from gaza in to israel. israel is still contending their military object raises in an around northern gaza. every hour of this war can have a huge impact on any sort of hostage deal or negotiation that is ongoing. one example of that is what you just mentioned, martha. the idf releasing the information that they have discovered the body of one of the people that was abducted by hamas on october 7. 65-year-old was discovered near the shifa hospital. that's where near for a second day israeli forces searched the vast complex. we've seen images of guns and other equipment located in the hospital. they also discovered a tunnel near the hospital complex. israeli forces say that alone is evidence that hamas was operating with within the hospital complex. hamas calls ate weak story that isn't true. the israeli chief of staff says that the pressure they're putting on hamas is working. >> we are close to destroying the military system in the north gaza strip. much depends on us. we will continue to other areas if we can. >> now, according to officials inside gaza, they say both internet and telephone service is currently down. the u.n. says food, water and other necessities like fuel are running thin making life in this humanitarian crisis even deeper. martha? >> thanks very much, jeff. my next guest negotiated the release more than a decade ago of an israeli soldier. he's held hostage by hamas for five years. these are images when he was brought home. this was a huge moment. this went on for five years. so they traded this one israeli soldier for more than 1,000 palestinian prisoners. that was the deal that was struck. including hundreds that were serving life sentences for attacks on israelis. he's now the middle east director of the international communities organization and joins us live from tel aviv. good to have you with us today. when you hear these reports of this deal that is being worked on, tell me what you think of it and how you think this might all work out. >> i think that we have a great urgency to bring out as many hostages as we can safely through a negotiated agreement with hamas before israel pushes further south in the gaza strip where most of the hostages are being located in tunnels and in structures. the hamas leadership, the military command as well as the political leadership are there. israel has determined that its primary mission in this war is to eliminate hamas aability to control the territory of gaza ever again and to threaten israel. at the same time, the israels have dedicated themselves to bringing back all the hostages. these two missions are difficult to accomplish hand and hand. if there is a possibility for a negotiated agreement, i would probably for the women, the children and the elderly hostages, israel will agree to a partial cease fire and release only solve prisoners from israel. we must get the hostages out as soon as possible and as many as possible. there are a great risks every day to the hostages. we have seen what the finding of the body was. there's 238 other hostages like her that could have the same fate if we don't manage to get them out quickly. >> martha: we know 30 of them are under the age of 18 and many are 22. several that were taken from the music festival. these people just -- >> they're babies. there's young children. >> martha: nine months old. let me ask you about this. you negotiated the release of galad with hamad. you're very familiar with him. he's the individual -- we have an image of him. we've heard from him. he talks about from the river to the sea. he has said that the elimination of israel is what the goal is here. what is dealing with him like and what do you think is -- how do you think all of this is working behind the scenes right now? >> this is him on the screen. this is one of the people that were released in the prisoner deal in 2011. hamad of today, the spokesperson of this war in beirut is not the personal that i knew, special for social welfare in gaza over the last years. the man that i have spoken to more than 1,000 times and met face to face four times with, he has changed. this war has changed him. he left gaza like many of the hamas leaders sitting in their comfortable suites while they're speaking about the war and speaking about the tragedy of palestine while they have no responsibility for the palestinian people on the ground. they are irresponsible, criminals who need to be held to justice by their own people. >> martha: he said he wants to have an october 8, october 9, october 10. thanks, gershon. great to have you. your experience is very valuable to us. thanks very much. as prosecutors pursue new charges against alec baldwin in the on set shooting death of halyna hutchins, newly obtained video is giving us a clear view of the actor handling guns on the set. steve wolf is back with us today. he's consulting with the prosecution on this case and he joins us next. a chip in your . trust safelite. this couple was headed to the farmers market... when they got a chip. they drove to safelite for a same-day repair. and with their insurance, it was no cost to them. >> woman: really? i don't want the shoot towards you. i'm going to shoot close to you. >> martha: so that's the image you remember right after the shooting and killing of halyna hutchins. baldwin could face new charges of involuntary manslaughter. the actor said he's innocent and never pulled that trigger. steve wolf is a weapons safety expert for films and a consultant for the prosecution in the criminal case and engaged as an expert witness. good to have you back with us. i know you said it would be impossible for the bullet to eject from that pistol without pulling the trigger. let me just get your thoughts first on that video that we just saw. can you take anything away from that given what happened the next day? >> yeah, absolutely. what i can take away from that is that alec did have an awareness of firearm safety. that he was aware that the blanks could be dangerous. he stated right there, i don't want to shoot this towards you. can you move to the other side? so he knew gun safety. the thing is that gun safety or rules, not suggestions, which is to say you have to follow them all the time. so the fact that he followed them on a monday but didn't follow them on a tuesday doesn't excuse that accidental killing. >> martha: so with regard to this case, which he -- it looks like he was off the hook. but now there's this new case. can you tell us anything about what you're learning from this part of the legal process? >> yeah, there's a lot of legal wranglings going on and back and forth between the prosecution and the attorneys. ultimately it comes down to if the gun is in your hand, you're responsible for what happens with it. if you don't know how to check it, you ask someone. the person should check it in front of you, show it to you, teach you how to do it. he's got the familiarity. he described on his abc interview exactly what it looks like when you work with the proper armorer. they check it, scold you, they give it back to you and none of the that happened on this set because they had an inexperienced armorer. if the gun is in your hands and something bad happens, you have to take responsibility for that. >> martha: he also said he didn't pull the trigger. your thoughts on that. >> that would be contrary to my opinion and that of the fbi. the reason that i think he could think that though is that because on these single-action gun, it's a short trigger press. if he was holding his hand on the finger and negotiated the release aware he moved it and pulled the hammer back, the gun would fire not being a wear. he thinks you have to press it after you cock it. if you're holding the hammer back and pull it back and release it, the gun will fire. so there's no evidence that there was anything mechanically wrong with that gun. it performed as it would supposed to. >> martha: the gun that we see him using in the video we just watched is a prop gun, right? that's not -- >> well, no, it's not an -- it's a gun designed to fire blanks. potentially to fire live ammo. we can't tell from that video whether that gun had had a restricter installed in it so it could only fire blanks, but based on the fact that likely that same gun is the gun that killed halyna hutchins, that gun was a real gun and had not been modified. so we shouldn't say it was a prop gun. if it can shoot blanks or shoot live ammo, it's a real gun. >> martha: so you believe the next day it was a real gun that someone put real ammo in? >> it's not just i believe it, it's a fact. there was live ammo in it. the ammo did come out. the gun was capable of firing the ammo. there's no reason to think that wasn't a real regular unmodified gun. that's the kinds of guns that kel people. you can work backwards or forwards. it's not a prop gun. >> it's a real gun >> martha: we'll see what the outcome is. thanks for being on the program. we'll see how it ends up for alec baldwin. thanks, everybody, for being with us on this thursday, november 16. and we will see you back here tomorrow, the patriot awards will be streaming live tonight hosted by pete hegseth based in nashville. it's going to be a huge night. don't miss it. it will be moving and special and it is must see streaming tonight.
